Mike Haines and I have put all of our old pool photographs from the 1980’s on a DVD. There are over 600 1980-1986 images on the DVD in either .jpg or .tif format and another 121 images from the 2005 Derby City Classic.
A limited number (25 or so) of the DVDs will be available during the DCC tournament for $40. If you want me to “put your name on one,” PM me your name and I’ll be sure to hold one for you.
The DVD will include images from the 1980 Las Vegas Open, the 1980 Rocky Mountain Open, Sid Mann’s Austin tournaments (1981 & 1984), the 1983 & 1984 Reds tournaments in Houston, three Dayton Open tournaments (1982, 1983, & 1984), three Clyde Childress Memorial tournaments (1984, 1985 & 1986), and a 1987 exhibition featuring Willie Mosconi, “Cowboy” Jimmy Moore, Luther Lasiter, and Jack “Jersey Red” Breit. Also included are our Smugmug photos from the 2005 Derby City Classic and a screen saver of Mike Haines’s favorite pool images. Check our Smugmug galleries (http://billporter.smugmug.com/) to see the images from these tournaments. The DVD includes several images that are not in these Smugmug galleries.
All of the image files on the DVD are labeled in a manner to allow you to identify the player(s) in the photo and the tournament at which it was taken. An included Word file explains the file naming conventions in detail. Another Word file has instructions for installing the screen saver.
As a bonus, we have included all the interviews we did at the 1980 Rocky Mountain Open. These interviews have been sold on a separate CD for $20. There are over 5 hours of interviews with the following interviewees: Mike Sigel, Buddy Hall, Ronnie Allen, Dee Hulse, Lou Butera, Gloria Walker, Paul Gerni, Warren (Monk) Costanzo, Paul Heubler, Bill Stroud, Bob Meucci, Cowboy Jimmy Moore, Richie Ambrose, Al (The Plumber) Winchenbaugh, Vicki Frechen, and Richie Florence.
We will be at the DCC on the first Friday evening and Saturday morning, the following Tuesday during the day and at the One Pocket Hall of Fame dinner, and the final Thursday through Saturday. To pick up your DVD at DCC, just call my cell phone to arrange a contact (859-380-9301). If you wish to have a DVD mailed to you, you may send me a PayPal payment of $50 to billporter1874@yahoo.com. I will begin mailing out all ordered DVDs the week after DCC.
