Interesting Out

Tonight while watching two moderately skilled local players engaged in a small jellybeans game I saw this interesting out

The player with pocket A needed two balls for the win. Kicked off the rail and made the cross bank for a very nice offensive move. Considering that 8 was frozen this was a very impressive shot IMO. After the game was over he made the shot again on his first attempt to my amazement. Apparently he had been practicing this shot and dreaming of the day he could pull it out of his ass :)

Nonetheless, it was enjoyable

As you said, Mark, IMO, very few if any players that play under me and no players that play over me would try to make that shot. The guy had to be trying to kick the ball out, hit it bad and got lucky. As far as him doing it again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've seen it made from this area -- but not as far over as that shot!

Where it comes up more often is when your opponent has no other balls that go on their side of the table early in the game, and the object ball is real close to their pocket, but still on enough of the rail to bank it towards your own hole. The cue ball swings around the table something like this, and hitting too thin is safer than hitting too thick -- because of the double kiss if hit too full...

From that angle on a kick, it looks like it would have to double kiss to make. Hell of an out under any circumstances. I was never fortunate enough to play guys for $$ that would go for those kind.

Me either, John. The only exception would be if the guy was on the "Stall". Hell, he could trap me going for that shot. But, if I actually needed 10-6, I might play even, after seeing that out, lol.

I like to be on the rail when somebody makes a shot like this and then sets it up and does it again.

apparently this guy was on a roll he couldn't make this shot 1 time in 20 tonight.
