I keep hearing some players really hating the Measles CueBall from The Super Aramith Pro fame. I am curious as to what you guys think?
My take is that cueball is one of the best inventions of recent times for our sport, because it helps beginners learn at a much faster rate. I say this, due to the fact that it is easier to see what someone is doing to the cue ball as far as spin goes. When I was younger, I had to see the same shot many time to really understand what was happening to the cueball. Now it is almost instant feedback.
Some people say it is tough to get used to or they just don't believe in it, because it is not what they are used to. But just about everyone that tries it out for any length of time, says after about 5 games or so, that they actually like it and forget about all the spots when shooting or that it doesn't bother them as much as they thought it would.
I figured some might feel it is going to be tougher to hide your speed as it shows most everything you do, but I always thought people either know who they are dealing with or they don't. I really doubt that the cueball has that much influence on that. Anyway, that is how I am seeing it, but as always I am willing an eager to see what you guys think about this.

All I can say is that my pool playing customers all love it.

I've found that the players that can PLAY like it.
If you've got stroke, the Pro-Cup ball is very consistant.
Differences are very apparent.
Contact 'bouncing off' versus 'colliding'
If you've played with the red circle ball, you'll notice that the Pro-Cup ball collides with the object ball as opposed to the red circle 'bouncing off' OBs.
Banking,
Red Circle 'clears' OB and misses the kiss.
Pro-Cup will NOT 'Clear' as well as the Red Circle and will get the "KISS" more often.
Weight.
Red Circle will loose some of its weight over the years and also some of its overall diameter. This loss is from the constant collisions with all the object balls. When I weighed the two ball, the Pro-Cup weighed 6 ounces and the Red Circle weighed 5.8 ounces. This is a difference.
But, "new" red circle balls weigh 6 ounces.
Old object balls (especially the solid colored ones) also lose weight and diameter over the years. If you use a new Pro-Cup cue ball with old balls, there will be problems.
I suggest using new balls with the ProCup rather than buying a new ProCup and using with old balls. There will be a difference.
Bottom line.. if you have a decent stroke, you should be able to control the ProCup ball.

I like the measles ball and have one in my cue case. I was playing 1 hole with a friend the other day and I made a tight crossing bank on the bottom rail, and he said... "oh, I was using the other spin" right then I thought twice about my cue ball...

I like it !! I can not only judge faster how the cloth is taking spin. It also shows me what the other guys using to get were he ends up..
I have found that the over 60ish crowd pretty much hate it !! I think mostly becouse it giving to much information ...

Right, and that "information" is likely to be the only skill component we actually have any edge in... :)

I am 67, have been playing one pocket for a long, long time and I HATE IT. It is not because it is giving up too much information. I feel like it plays almost like the big bar ball. I know they say it weighs the same, but it does play differently. I expect I will get used to it since I am playing more again, but I am having a struggle with it playing position. But it is the only ball they are using anymore, so I'll quit complaining (maybe).
Don't like it. It's almost as bad as playing on red cloth!!

I guess I can understand why they use that type of ball for TV. But, with the possible exception of practicing, why would anyone else use it?

I love the measles cueball...seems to roll truer and have a little more weight like someone else said. The spots took a little getting used to, but was minor really.

I've had a Measles CB for a couple months now and love it!!! I think it rolls alot smoother and plays alot better than the Red Circle CB.
I know that when I first played with the Measles cb, I noticed I was over shooting my position alot, compared to the Blue Circle CB. But as i played with the CB, I noticed it played alot better than the BC cb.
And i guess, it can give away a bit of info, on what a player is doing to the CB, but if someone watches how a better player playes certain shots, they are going to learn what english to use anyways.
