Word is that Chet Ito has sold California Billiards in Sunnyvale.

Anyone out there verify this?

California Billiards is without a doubt one of the best laid out and maintained rooms in the country with a nice "players" area with 8 tight Gold crowns and a fierce snooker table with a modertely high stakes golf game going on most evenings.

The room regularly hosts One-pocket tournements, 9-ball qualifers and a host of other action. Best I can remember is Bucktooth playing one-pocket for $500 a game and leaving $5000 up!

Sure hope Chet did manage to make the sale as I understand he is in failing health. He had a great concept and ran the room like a personal passion.

It is up for sale and has had at least two offers that fell through.

The property owners will probably end up turning the building into a Chinese Buffet, lots of parking and in an IDEAL location...

Or.... tear everything done and build a multistory condo, great location and easy on and off access to major bay area highways.

Here's to wishing Chet Itow a wonderful retirement free of all the people that bothered him so much as a room owner.

The room has been bought by a set of partners from the Silly Valley area for somewhere around $700,000.

The room officially changes hands on July 1 2007.

Heres to:

- No more yappy little dogs that the owner's wife brought in
- never again wondering why the owner's chicken salad has so much more chicken than yours (and YES, at least one person got 86'd for asking about that)
- Being able to shoot in a room where the bathrooms are not a cause for a public health concern.
- And to all the players who were 86'd over the years who will be returning to what is the BEST room in the Valley.

C U there!
