Has anyone seen this book around or know whether it is going to be reprinted or not? I owned a copy back in '94 or '95, but all I played then was 9-ball, so I sold it on the web a few years back. Now I'm kicking myself, cuz I can't find a copy of it anywhere. If I remember correctly, the copy I had had a few pages of typed erratta sent with it. Please tell me this book isn't going to just fade out of existence...

A friend of mine showed me his book. He is a bit of a collector. (He bought last years 9-ball open championship table because he thought Efren was going to win, I play on it regularly). Anyways he had a lizard skinned winning one-pocket book w/ all the authors signatures. I said hey I would like to look through this book sometime. He then gives me a brand new one with the plastic still on it. This was only 4 weeks ago!!! He said go ahead and open it and get it back to me when you get done w/ it. I was very excited. It took me two days before i even opened it and I called him before I did and said "Are you sure you want me to take the wrap off of this thing." Well I did and have gone through it numours times. Awesome read...Later Fast

Hi t-dog,
Did your friend just recently purchase the book new, or was it more of a collector's item? If new, where did he buy it? I'd like to order one myself.
Thanks,
Doc

I have a very good friend that Scanned the entire book and put it on a CD for me, when I left Cincinnati for Sacramento as a present.
All the 'errata' entries are made and documented.
I consider myself very lucky to have this.

I first saw the two books at Tony Schianella's (maker of Black Boar cues) shop two years ago. They impressed me immensely. I bought one of Pat Fleming's last copies of "Shots, Moves & Strategies" for $100 from Accu-Stats, and I finally won an Ebay bid (after like 5 tries) a year ago for "Winning One Pocket" for $250. In previous auctions I'd seen it go all the way up to $500.
I've heard from an acquaintance of Eddie Robin, that he has no intention of reprinting them and is living in Vegas. I heard financial problems may have had something to do with the books originally being discontinued by Billiard World Publishing, but I'm not sure.
But while the books are great reads and very informative and interesting -- most certainly the best pool books ever written, I think that I've learned more from watching Accu-Stats videos and matching up with good & great players. Books, even good ones, can only take you so far.
I have both books I look at from time to time. Excellent books but some shots are a bit on the wild side even if you are a champion.

I had the opportunity to talk with Eddie for about 90 minnutes a couple of months back and there is not much chance that we will ever see any reprints of the original books. Nor are we going to see any of the other titles that he and Billiard Publishing had in the works.
As of 2-3 months back he is indeed living in Vegas on what sounds like a mimimal income. Apparently there were some problems with the financing for the additional books that were in the works and everything came to a crashing halt.
He is looking for folks interested in lessons when they are in the area and if you e-mail me I'll forward his number on to you.

Hi RD,
That's a shame about Robbins' deal falling through! I wouldn't be surprised if he could get other interested backers, although he may be trapped into a contract or copyright prohibition.
Please Email me at: gulfportdoc@yahoo.com I'd like to get Robbins' contact number, since I'll be heading out to Vegas this Fall. Are you located on the SF Peninsula?
Thanks, bud,
Doc

"Winning One-Pocket" and "Shots, Moves and Stratagies". They're both great for seeing possibilities when playing.
Did someone say they payed $250 for "Winning..."?

These are great books, and I read both of them several years ago. On this site I see a great many people who want to see them and can't find them, so here's an idea no one has mentioned yet.
I went to the public library and made an official request for the books. It took a few weeks, but eventually they came up with both books and lent them to me. As I recall, they borrowed one from a library in Michigan, and I don't remember where they found the other one.
Your library will probably do the same, if you ask. They will try, at least.
