I'll be doing the DCC Ring Games in Jan. Greg Sullivan and I would like to have 12 players in order to have two ring games. Any pro with the entry fee can play in these. There will not be any favoritism and it will be on a first come first serve basis. The entry fee is slated to be $5,000, unless there is a problem raising the entry fees, in which case it could be lowered to $3,000.
If I had done the U.S. Open ring game, it would have happened, instead of all the confusion.

Grady I have your books and your tapes so my respect for you is great and you dont have to do anything that would question your judgement when it comes to pool and betting on it. However if a professional in this sport we love so much cant raise $5K than I dont think giving a second price like $3K is logical. If Quality guys like Archer, Reyes, Soquet, Deull, Mika cant come up with it then forget it. Dont come into my store and try to haggle down the price. Then quality would be suspect. I would rather see a lower limit Ring game for quality shortstops. (if they can be called that). The Leil Gays, John Hagar Jr, Rob Saez, Marco Marquez, etc. Than having upper level champions playing cheap. I know you never had a problem about betting it up on the high end and neither did the stock (Lassiter, Eddie Taylor, Diliberto, Fatty, UJ, etc) you come from.

Hey how about a Seniors ring game. Over 60. Ill back Danny D. for a 2K entry on principle.

Grady, this seniors thing may be an idea for the coast in '05. Just thinking ahead, Pel

I'd love to see a Senior's ring game and your price of $2,000 sounds about right. BUT, many times in the past I have tried to promote action at senior tournaments, with zero success. I've never even seen one money game.

Odd, I would love to play with a bunch of other old farts. I can't keep up with the young'uns anymore. :D

Gotta get ready for the storm, later, Pel

Pelican!!

What the hell are you still doing in Magnolia Springs??? That category 4 hurricane is about to bop y'all on the nose! If I were you, I'd head north, and wouldn't stop until I reached Tuscaloosa. If you don't have a storm cellar, you'd better git. I'm 60-70 miles west of you, but even so, I'm heading for Richard S's place in Poplarville. He is gracious enough to accommodate me, so I'll probably stay until Thursday afternoon. He's got a new GCIV, so I figure-- why suffer? Might as well play 1P while it's ah-blowin' !

Let us know how you fared in the Mobile Bay area when you can.

Doc

P.S. You know we old duffs don't play each other for the cheese-- we just
put our money in action on the young turks...

Hey Doc, we gonna ride her out here at the Foley store. Got a 10X16 foot concrete vault. If the building goes it will still be here. Got to hang around for the possible looters after it is over. We have a simple policy for that. YOU LOOT - WE SHOOT!

Yep, us old guys enjoy playing for the shear enjoyment of the game. Later my friend, Pel

Pelican-- Are you back up and runnin' yet? Y'all really got SLAMMED!!
Many in Mobile have their power back today. I hope you got it a little easier than Gulf Shores! Let us know your status when you can.

Your bud,

Doc

Hey Doc, we did very well. Bit of water in the Foley store and one window cracked at the Loxley store with some water blown in. Everything fine at home just had tons of limbs and debris to clean up. Took the tractor and box blade and just pushed up a couple of large piles. Have a big bonfire party this fall :) .

Thanks for your concern. We were indeed fortunate compared to the folks at the gulf and points east like Pensacola. The storm shifted a bit east before making land fall. That little shift moved the northeast quadrant just past us. Lot of folks don't believe in prayer but I say it's kinda like what the Jewish mothers say about chicken soup - "Can't hurt". :D

See y'all later, Pel

Good to have both you guys up and running with minimal damage!
