The situation goes like this: my opponent has a ball hanging in his hole. I decided to pocket his ball to play safe. The problem is that he owed a ball. When do you spot the ball before or after he shoots? I've gotten a few conflicting answers. And i can't seem to find this situation in the rules.
my understanding is if you made a ball in your hole and made his ball at the same time you keep shooting until the end of your inning . then spot the ball. if you made his ball to end your inning then the ball is spotted before your opponent shoots.

That seem's to be the consensus. I always thought it was the other way around.

Any ball to be spotted is spotted at the end of the inning in which it was made. If it is forgotten, or overlooked, at that time, when it is remembered it should be spotted following an inning by each player. That's my understanding.
