I have the most in-consistent break in one pocket. Any tips on improving? How do the good players break/improve their one pocket breaks?
I started with the third ball hitting full, and moved back up the rack ball by ball until I could break fairly consistant off the head ball... But once you try the third ball break and watch how the rack reacts... You may use this more often in money games because of the less risk...

Bille:cool: I breack inbetween the first two balls and see how the Cueball reacts and I hit the bottom rail about three fourts to one half of the First dimond. And I youse reverse English and I hit the Cueball a little above canter and I try to frezze the cue ball on the second dimond with a ball on the bottom rail and the long rail close to the pocket were my opponent calt hit either ball and that is a good breack. The worst thing is to get a loose rack or a tiltit rack. The best way is to have a nutrale party rack the balls thats honest. And If the balls are racked correctly and you youse a good strock the balls should breack correctly. If the balls dont breack correctly then you have to find the answer WHY. And if you practice enough tell you understand what you are doing and no what should happen and WHY. Then you will have mastered the breack. And the breack is one of the most important part of one pocket. Because with a good breack you cand keep your opponent locket up and on deffinse the whole game. So dont take the breack litely. It can be the whole session and the difference between winning and loosing. It is a must win. Because you can but your opponent in CHECK from the first shoot on.
Thanks Artie... I try and hit 20 to 30 breaks a night... along with short rail practice in case my opponent leaves me a shot off his break...

Bille If you no a good player or a player who breacks the balls good. Watch what he does and try to learn and duplicate what he does.

Thanks ya'll.
Hey Artie...what kind of cue did you use...not when you were hustling -- but in big money matchups. Did you have a preferred cue?

Hey Artie...what kind of cue did you use...not when you were hustling -- but in big money matchups. Did you have a preferred cue? I used the older modle of cues. A Rambo and a Ballabushca a leather case and 3 shaffes all kinds of different sand paper and steel wool. And I would pick out good chalk that would hold the calk good. And after I would sandpaper my shaft I would use the back of the sandpaper to smoothen the shaft. And I would allways have a perfect tip. Their would be no over lap on the farrow. And I would smotthen the side of the tip with spit and the back of the sandpaper. And the side of the tip would be very smooth. And the top of the tip would not be real smooth. Because I wanted the tip to grabe the chalk. And I used a 10 millameter shaft. And I would have a 12 and a 11 milameter shaft. My cue stick weighed 20 Oz. And I wold never stand my cue case up. I would lay it always flat. And I played with one of the thinest shaftes off all the players. And I never played with any of the moderen cue sticks.

oh, good grief.
IOW, go buy some Accu-Stats tapes. AND, get the benefit of some great commentary from at least two great players.
We've all been saying that for years.
