This position comes up alot. You have pocket A. You can bank the 3 ball two rails onto the stack and drive alot of balls to your side and maybe even make a ball. The downside is you can easily sell out a simple bank for your opponent. My question is, do you think this is a smart play? If so, do you want the 3 ball to hit the stack on the high side or the low side? And where do you want the cue ball to end up? If you dont like the shot please tell me why. Thanks for your analysis. You can shoot the three ball two rails to youre side of the pocket and try to leave the cue ball forze to the rail behind the rack about one and three quateres of a dimond up the rail. Or you can kick the three ball into youre pocket it the three ball is not froze its a easy shot and then you can shoot the frozen ball next and leave him behind the stack froze to the rail. or you can shoot the ball on his sideof the table after making the 3 ball and shoot the the ball two rails to youre side of the table and lock him into the stack.

Your shot is ok and you can make the three ball off the stack and you could even get a shoot and run out. BUt If you breack the balls up and give hih a bank he mite run out and you really dont have control of the balls but the shot is very aggresive and ok. And its a offensive shot that you can make the three ball and run the table. Its a gamble shot. And Its how you feel about the shot. But kicking in the three ball is a lot easier and you can control the three ball and cue bamll. And then shoot the 12 ball and lock him up in the stack or on the rail a little further downt the rail were he cant bank the ball accross the side and lock you in the stack. Or banb the 3 ball two rails to your side of the pocket and leave the cue ball behind the stack. Those would be my two choices. And with youre shot thier would be 3 choices. And if you are leading 3 games to 2 anad its a race to 4 Your shot would be a ok gambale shot. To win the session. But I like kicking at the 3 ball the best. And if the three ball is not froze then it would be a good shot to shoot. But its youre choice ans banking the 3 ball two rails and butting the cue ball behind the balls is the safest shot.

Well you didn't ask for other opinions, but I'm bored so heres my 2 cents worth. I like kicking the 3 ball, but kick from a higher spot on the side rail with a lot of spin and try to send the CB into or behind the stack. This is not a hard shot it just takes a few practice shots to get the feel. If you don't make the 3 ball but leave it near the head rail your opponent has a problem.

Rodney. thats a good shot. And that would be my choice too. and if you get the cue ball behind the tack and the ball in front of your pocket thats a great shot.

That is my first choice here(kicking) leaving it by the hole is way stronger than making it.
The only way I would two rail a ball into the stack is if I have something to hide behind or stick him to that makes it bad for him.
