Just got back from the Glass City Open in Toledo, OH, where Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant won in a very strong field of players. BCn and Accu-Stats were there recording the event which will air later this year.
Bob Meachum, Jerry Forsyth, and Buddy Hall were the commentators. I can't wait to find out what the Accu-Stat scores were in the semi-final and final matches. I was one of the lucky railbirds who witnessed a first-class exhibition of professional pool.
Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich ran a six-pack on Corey Deuel to advance to the finals match. Corey was cool as a cucumber and could only smile as Danny kept him benched the majority of the match. I thought Corey was going to win the whole event. He was moving the balls with precision and seemed to have a feel for the equipment: Diamond table, Sardo Rack, blue Simonis cloth, and Aramith Super Pro balls with the infamous red-dot cue ball.
One evening after the matches concluded, Nick Varner and Buddy Hall were practicing up, and Keith just couldn't help himself and had to initiate a barkfest. Keith wanted to play Nick Varner 10 to 8, but Varner didn't like that game, but did offer him 9 to 8. Buddy Hall's ears pricked up when he heard action in the making, and no stranger to the gift of gab, he offered his 2 cents as well. The game never materialized, but the three of them brought a lot of laughter to the railbirds with their witty comments. Three veteran players having fun with each other!
Here's a few pictures I took:
