Ronnie Allen made this shot against Keith McCready while playing one handed, jacked up. Ronnie has the bottom pocket and needs one ball. He pockets the 5 ball on the rail first billiard. START(

Pretty scary... :) Looks like you'd need some mustard to get the 1-ball all the way back.
In this case I think I'd rather play defense by putting the OB near the opposite side pocket and leave the CB at this end rail.

I have to agree, Troy. If the ball doesn't go in the hole you virtually have to leave a cross corner.

Efren Reyes was playing a top one-pocket player when he was faced with a safe and replied with a two rail cue ball safe:

he made the safe without scratching. He then proceeded to beat the player 4 straight games 8-0. He made 34 balls before the other player got one and the other guy was a top player.

Hi,

Actually I did use some good speed on the shot. It was the last ball and I did need it. We'd been playing for hrs and just that last ball went back and forth for atleast 4 shots a piece. I was trying to make the thing in the corner up top but the english grabbed and it went. We had a good laugh.

The only thing my opponent looked for was the foul hitting the rail first. That didn't happen. Sure I could have feathered the one and put whitey up table but I'd lost patients and thought, humm wonder if I can make this shot up table? The worst that could happen is that I'd lose the game and I was up anyway so, I said THWI. hahaha

Regards,

C.C.~~figured it might be something to think about in a different situation.

Hi Troy,

yep, it was scarry and this also was one shot I did when I was first learning the game. I play much tighter now but on the same note I play probably much to aggressive too. I have slowed down my aggression to a certain level but I do think my main goal now has been to be the one controling the game. kind of like, follow my lead. :)

Here's another Efren shot I witnessed. It's hard to place the balls as they were but you can clearly see what he did on the next 2 shots:

He stopped the cue dead on the eight and then banked the 15 and ran out with the 1 ball still hanging in the pocket. He was playing a noted one-pocket player from Phil. PA.

Ronnie Playing a top player in Memphis in 1975. Just under the speed of one of Hemi's top players ever! Ronnie gives him 11-5 and the break but that's not all! Ronnie played one handed jacked up! That's right! Ronnie went on to bust the guy and ever shot was a memory from running 9 and out to drawing his ball, to firing a shot straigt in from the middle of the table! Think about it, one hand jacked up! If you ever try it he held a roll of nickels in his hand to help with the balance of the shaft!

Just not that kind of action or gamble anymore!

Another reason for Ronnie to be in the Hall of Fame!

I know exactly what Railbird is talking about when he mentions the roll of nickels. The problem is he forgot to mention why Ronnie needed the roll of nickels playing one handed. The reason he needed the nickels was because he was only using the "SHAFT" of the cue. Every word Railbird says is true.

Now,,,,,you tell me who else ever in history played one pocket at that speed? Rhetorical question, because the answer is easy,,,,,"NO ONE".

The greatest sin the BCA has ever committed is their failure to include Ronnie Allen in the Hall Of Fame.

You simply 4 rail the Nine Ball into your hole and squat the cue ball right up next to the rail & the 7 ball. After that you make the 4 ball & RUN OUT. AT LEAST THATS WHAT I DID A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO!

Well, as usual, I failed to notice that 4-railer. I'm going to have to spend a few hours with that shot so I start to get a feel for it. For some reason, as comfortable as I am with some other multi-rail banks, I always seem to overlook that 4-railer.

I know I one thing -- assuming the two and three don't go in my opponent's pocket -- I'm being carefull not to bump them open so they do go!

Assuming neither of those balls go, what I came up with was this:
START(
%AN7O5%BG5Z9%CH6Z0%DD8H9%EM1T6%FK6P1%GD3Q8%HM7N8%ID1O4%JI5D2

Of course your opponent could blast in the five ball :) but I like opening up those two balls on the foot rail and (hopefully!) leaving a whole bunch around my pocket. Having seen it, I like your idea better though...
