We had our monthly 1pkt tournament this last Saturday.

$810 in the pot, 27 players.

Billy Palmer faced Ronnie Allen in the finals for the Winner's side.

Billy gave Ronnie his first defeat. Ronnie hadn't lost a game on the winner's side until he met Billy.

Ronnie was making shots and running out like it was 1965 at the Stardust. I've seen Ronnie play quite a few times in the last 14 months and I have to admit, this was the best I have ever seen him play.

Ronnie continued to play well in the finals of the One-loss side beating a great local player 8-0 and 8-1 and winning the last game with an 8 and out.

In the first match of the DE finals, (Ronnie had to beat Billy twice to win) Ronnie won the first game 8-2, Ronnie was in a groove.

But, Billy Palmer put on a clinic of controlled shots and won the next two games 8-0 and 8-2 to win the tournament.

$300 for 1st and $200 for 2nd.

It was great to see these two great players, many of the tournament players stayed to watch the finals and there were plenty of spectators in the stands. Ronnie and Billy provided a great show.

Our own John Henderson made it to the money by having some great games and showing the younger players that old age can still make a good showing.

thanks John for making this tournament, it is my pleasure to see you play and compete well.

Tom, Ronnie is a totally amazing one-pocket player, isn't he? And he's been doing it for 50 YEARS! Of all the top one-hole players I've seen, RA seems to have the most natural spatial feel for the table layouts, and how to move balls to his hole. It's almost as if he can simply "will" balls to his pocket. It's amazing at his age that he can seemingly turn on the heat whenever he wants! Too bad for us that he probably won't be at Grady's GCC in Gulfport, Miss. this week. I imagine he'll stay out your way, and wander over to Reno.

My congratulations to Ronnie and John for making the young guns perk their ears up and wonder if they have to be stealing playing us, "Over The Hill" gang.

Ronnie played great the entire tournament.

The biggest surprize was Ronnie's attitude. He seemed to be more focused and somewhat determined.

It was only in the finals that he showed the 'Ronnie of Old' by talking during his shots. The crowd was amused, but that didn't make for the results that Ronnie wanted.

All in all, everyone had a great time and it is certainly expected to be entertained when the Great One shows up in our tournaments.

Ronnie was talking about Reno, but I'm not sure he was determined to go.

When you have great players, like we do in Sacramento and the surrounding areas, it is my pleasure to run these tournaments.

Hemi,

Which day(s) are you coming down to Gulfport for Grady's GCC? Looking forward to meeting you, along with some of the others from 1p.org.
