Jungle.....just wanted to say that I read your book several years ago, and I enjoyed it alot - it was a good read...and that said, I think your book deserves to be mentioned more when good poolworld books/memoirs are being discussed, recommended, etc. - the Ghost hereby recommends it.

I certainly hope you mention it a little more than you have already mentioned my two books from your home town, home pool room buddy. At this moment your Banking With The Beard, etc., plugs, remain at zero.
Beard
Banking With The Beard has sold 10,000 copies all around the world. In five years, 100 of which have been sold in the Chicago area, none of which to anyone that I know. Nobody apparently seen that movie, Support Your Local Gunfighter.

...you are incorrect - the internet is not my whole world - you don't know when I may have recommended your books to people in person, which by the way, I have.

And as to the rest of your 'complaint'....
I just posted a little thumbs up to an 'underdog' in the pool book world....in about 6 years on this site and on az.billiards, I've never seen his book mentioned once, whereas I've seen your books mentioned dozens of times....so once again I say - chill out.....

I promise to take it all back just as soon as one customer tells me Bruce told me to buy it.

My point is, that with all those "mentionings," I'm still waiting for someone from Chicago that I was around with for 40 yrs to jump in. The most ink I got from one of my brethren was when Artie was mad at me, and he knocked all my stuff. (He has at least tried to make it up a little in his own weak little way. He lets me bet on him against the West Coasters) Race Track Phil dont count. He reads nothing but the racing form.
Beard
i may bet on Henderson.

Getting an author good ink is the publisher's job, not the readers' nor the author's associates' unless there is a fee involved.

give up a little gapper and they will be all over spouting about it.
The Ghost recommended your stuff to me before it even came out and and told me tons of your war stories from back in the day and I have bought at least 1 of everything you have and have purchased extras for gifts. And I am from Chicago. You might not see or hear the Ghost, but I have witnessed him "haunting" you up more than you know.

Ghrost,
The grouchy old farf is getting so contrary, he doesn't even like people who TRY to befriend him.
Maybe when he hits the big "Seven O" he'll mellow out, and realize that we all love him for what he is...a self engrandizing, boastful, all about ME, unbearable, old p---k..:D
That don't make him all bad. (but it does make him miserable) .:D
San <---did his best to defuse his altercation with Artie, and his hatred for Beanie. ;)... It ain't easy bein' Beardman.

You had to say that didnt you. Make me look like the bad guy. I finally get a Chicago plug and its disparaging and debunks all my vitriol. Ok, I take everything back and will no longer bet on John Henderson. You have just made the San Man's day.

Ok lets take this thread back to a recommendation for JungleDudes book, The Green Felt Jungle. I'll start things off with a recommendation and a request to the JungleDude to put his book on my site and sell it myself.

Mike,
Puleeeeze, if theres anything you don't allready know about one pocket, (which I doubt there is)...do not ask Mr.Bank Pool Specialist.
He has allready forgotten everything HE ever thought he knew about 1P. He must have offered that lesson back when you were 12 or 14 years old..:D
San <---thinks you might be better served asking lll, Skin, Calired...or even Dennis or Fanatic..
PS..Can I have the shirt ?... The sleeves are torn off mine, (trying to defend the Beardman's honor) ... and it is covered with blood, paint, whiskey stains, etc.... It now reads -"ank n rother"..

Tell ya what Dick...my end game could use some help. Especially when I'm up 6-2 or the like. Always seem to let the other guy back into it.
What size shirt do you wear??? Maybe we can negotiate.

Mike,
There's no point in asking SJD what to do with a 6-2 lead, he would advise you NOT to shoot a spot shot. Call Me or Fanny or Skin and we'll help you out, and we won't even try to sell you a shirt or video:) .

RBL,...(could stand for,... Real Bewildered Lunatic)
I happen to be in posession of a DVD of Mike Surber vs. Cliff Joyner..,2007 DCC, to see who advances to 2nd place.
Its hill/hill... the ball score on the final game, is 6 to 3, favor Joyner. He needs 2 balls...Mike has just scratched, Cliff has ball in hand in the kitchen.
There is only one other ball in play, about a foot straight out from Mike's pocket...all the other balls are up-table, out of play.
If Cliff shoots at the spot shot, even if he miises, he will easily take out the ball in front of Mike's hole.
Guess which shot he shot ? (big clue doorknob; it wasn't the spot shot)
Mike played very well,... it could have gone either way, but I think Cliff electing to remove the ball in front of Mike's hole, might have been the key to him winning the match... Final score, Joyner 3...Mike 2.
Moral of the story...spot shots in extreme situations, are a gamble...(even if you think you can make 8 out of 10) and you have to agree, Cliff shoots straighter than most people, but, unlike some macho idiots... he's not stupid !.
San <---would have shot the spot shot...if I were playing you, or the Beard... instead of Mike or Cliff..:D :D
PS..Another successful hi-jacking, in which the Beard tried to make a sale... to a helpless, disabled shut-in..

Just for you Larry .... Cliff could have shot the spot shot...or even banked the 8 toward his hole...he elected to knock the 8 up table...which IMO was the right shot.

Duck,
No disrespect intended to Cliff at all because I like his game and how he handles himself when he gambles. But this is the same Cliff that decided to shoot the 9 ball in this layout playing YOU in the 1998 World One-Pocket tournament, and it was game 7 as I recall.

You have to understand the EXTREME pressure he was under, playing moi.
His mind went blank, temporarily...just as yours would if you were up against a far superior player..  :D
(plus he probably thought, if he missed...the odds of me getting over two balls was off the charts).

Pat has that match for sale now on their website. http://www.accu-stats.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi?CMD=009&DEPT=000005&CAT=1206383411&SUBCAT=1214508343&BACK=A0008A1B0000005B1C01206383411C1
It's not listed in their catalogue.
I'm going to order it and some others from their website for my next few "video's of the month". I hadn't bought any since last March and with these and the new 14.1 offerings, I'll be set for the next year or so.
Thanks anyway!
