Paul Loser breaks & make it a short race(2 or 3). You start trying to figure out ball spots & no one will be happy.

California Handicap system for One Pocket

Anyone under 30 never gets the break
Anyone over 60 always breaks

Anyone under 30 must have at least a 3 no count to score points.
Anyone over 60 must get a game on the wire in a race to 3

Now that's a system I could learn to love, Tom.

Contact Tony Annigoni out in California. We are going to attempt to use his U.S.P.P.A. system for both One Pocket and Straight Pool. He can give you all the info.. No guarantees as we are going into a trial mode with this but we feel we pretty much have a go at this point in time.

The NPL (National Pool League) system is very easy to use, because it does not require a score keeper for each match in order to adjust a player's handicap. Also, the players know right after each event whether their handicaps have changed. If you're interested, contact Gene Miller at lowleft@aol.com. The system was dreamed up by Bob Jewett for 9-ball tournaments, but it could just as easily be used for 1P.

We used the system for a straight pool tournament several years back, and it worked out fine. For use in your case, if a 9-ball match was handicapped at 7-3, then for one-pocket you might try adding one or two balls, so that the game would be either 8-4 or 9-5. You could use some variation of that.

Either Gene or Bob would be able to help you get started.

OK Doc, let me see if I have this right. The next time we play you are giving me 9-5, two on the wire, and the breaks. Is that correct?

Pel, you forgot the part about, Doc having to play 6 no count too.
