Joey A. from New Orleans, Buddy Hall from Tampa, Ed A. from Calif. and a few others are sweating Cliff Joyner vs. roomowner Jamie "The Red Rifle" Farrell playing some 'six ahead' one-pocket for a few hundred jellybeans per game at the Corner Pocket in New Orleans. Who do YOU like in this game with Jamie getting 10-7 (Jamie is two games ahead as of this writing)......

If Jamie is playing up to par.. that's a great spot....
Cliff does have a rep of making everyone but Efren pay for the pleasure of matching up with him.
10-6 is no lock for Jamie...

Is, Hump, in with, Jamie, Smorg? I think 10-7 is how they are suppose to play. Maybe 11-7. I like, Jamie, 10-6.

In case anyone was interested in the outcome of Cliff & Jamie's match, I pinched this from another group:
jamie came out real strong first hour, and jamie is 5 games up going to 6. cliff came alive, played some great safeties and kept jamie from getting any kind of a shot . finished up about 10:30 pm. I feel the game is a tad off personally. i think 11-6 /11/7 would be more in line. but if you never get a shot it doesn't matter what the spot is. Jamie is a terrific player but cliff just out moved him time after time.

Very much interested, Smorg. Hate to hear, Jamie, lost. He is a friend. I don't think the game is far out of line, though I'm sure, Cliff, does move better than, Jamie.

Doug-- Did you ever figure out who Ed A. from Calif. is? Was Annigoni there as well? Evidently Jamie has to play perfectly to stay with Joyner at 10-7. He might be better off at 11-7 Joyner's break, 10-7 his break; maybe more. I think Jamie tends to give away the nuts.

Ed A. is Ed Ames from the Bay Area (SF). He is a good, not great, player who should do ok if he matches up alright. Not considered to be in Tony A.'s class I wouldn't think (109 vs. 150 USPPA rating) but he may play strong one hole. I don't know him personally but he seems to be respected in the SF/Sac/Oakland area.

Another way you might look at it, Doc: Jamie, is not a Locksmith. Jamie, has heart. Jamie, will gamble. Jamie, doesn't have to have the nuts to play. And lastly. All, Jamie is looking for is a fair game, not to steal it.
If you look at it that way, you would also have to say the same of, Humphrey.

Doc Doc, Ed is from the Bay area & is a solid player but not a world beater. Seems like the guys back there have him pegged pretty good. He's a good guy and will give some gamble. I believe he and Tony are traveling in Ed's motorhome and if he's playing every day on the road for a month or so, who knows how much his speed will jump up. Same for Tony, that road will get you in stroke and I will steer clear of both of them when they get back here (probably not).

Doc asks: Did you ever find out who Ed A. is ?
Smorg replies: Yep, I found out about a week ago but he asked me not to put it online, so I didn't. As a matter of fact, I came back here and deleted all my posts about Ed AND Tony Annigoni...
