Koud's first axiom of one pocket: there is always at any time in any game of one pocket a best shot for the incoming player.
Any one else out there care to state the obvious?

The best shot is the one you can make. :)

Just because the guy can run 8 racks of 9 ball on you, don't mean he's the favorite in onepocket.:D

One of my favorite Gradyisms: Don't take a shot you can lose with but not win with.
Don't screw up. You'll regret it.

That is my favorite too. I make it a point to remember that EVERY game I play.

Whatever you do - keep those unforced errors to a minimum.
(And RA's advice: when you're behind play like a lion - when you're ahead play like a lamb)
danny diliberto once told me "the shot should suggest itself". think about that when you are trying to force a shot that just ain't there.

Here's my favorite axiom, which, by the way, I just composed :) >>>
"The wisdom of a One Pocket player, should never be questioned by a 9Ball player"

Blomdahl said while watching a shot "I always miss that shot long".RB said to him "Well then you should be able to adjust so you can make it".Blomdahl said "You would think so but at the precise moment you can't escape your flaws."As the above posts are legit and well-intentioned I somehow wonder if a world champion can't escape who he is what chance do us rabbits have of escaping Cowboys verses of holes and traps mentioned in another thread.Hopefully in our next life or even tomorrow we might remember some of the above excellent sayings.I particulary like the one about so many christians so few lions or "Get off the table Mable the two bucks is for the beer",cheers,B

Turn the break around on your opponent first chance you get.
Give the Pelican whatever weight he wants - you'll still win. :o :o

...Study long, study wrong.
A defensive shot is just as good, if not better than an offensive shot...
Always look for a way to make a two way shot...
Just because you have made that simple shot a million times... doesn't mean you don't need to concentrate harder to make it this time...
Slow down...look at the possibilities and probabilities of each shot...
Just a few I have been told...
1p is keeping your opponent from making 8 before you do.

Bob, I sure as hell can relate to THAT one!! Sometimes when I'm about to take a shot which I deep down suspect that is wrong, I feel like a kamikaze pilot! Sometimes I pull up, sometimes I don't...

Ohhh, brudder! Sometimes, especially if I'm going bad, and I want to follow a shot and hit the rail near a pocket, the pocket draws in my cueball as I do exactly what I knew I should guard against. I can feel it start even before I hit the shot. I feel like one of the monkeys being charmed by Mowgli's snake. Anybody else? :o

Negative thoughts create negative actions. Think about what you don't want to do and you'll do it often. ;)

Somebiody has to throw a few Artie-isms in here. Two of my favorites.
1. Move a ball to your hole and leave him behind a ball where he can't play safe.
2. Stick and stay and make it pay. :D
