I was just wondering if the six 4K ring game players at Hardtimes have been set up yet. Kid D should probably defend his Reno title and so should be in the area; wondering if he might of got in or maybe Alex P. or Santos.
Any big timers signed up for the one pocket yet like Ronnie Allen or Scott Frost or only locals so far?
Thanks and I'll see you at the tourney.

So far, the ring game has one confirmed (paid) entry... Buddy Hall.
The 'kid' (Danny B) is scheduled to be at the tournament, selling his new cue line and instructional tapes and books...and probably a percentage of his take on the MOVIE rights(LOL).
If Ronnie Allen has a pluse, he'll be here. He rarely misses the one pocket event.
Scott Frost, Tony Chohan, Billy Palmer and lots of Reno Open pro players will be in attendance. Plus some of Northern and Southern California's best players. The Los Angelos contingent will be pretty hefty again. Morro, King Kong, Ernesto and others for sure.
Last year; Jose Parica, Santos Sambajon were in attendance. No reson to think otherwise, in fact, Santos (aka Sonny) has been a regular at Hard Times for the last month.

Thanks for the response Tom.
Buddy Hall playing at Hardtimes is the best news I've heard all week- he plays a hell of a one pocket game sometimes, too. His accu-stat match against Efren where he won 4-1 is pretty much the only tape I can remember where someone actually dominated Efren. Sometimes Efren will not be on top of his game (less often than anyone else, though) but Buddy just plain controlled this match.
Rumor has it that Tony C. and Santos matched up for a 5K 9-ball set and were supposed to play a 5K one pocket set, but Santos bailed after winning the nine ball. Sounds kind of weak if true, but I don't know the whole story.
I'll ask my friend if Kid D plans on playing in the ring game.

Tony C and Sonny did play the One Pocket match (a week after the 9 ball match). Tony winning the race to 5 ahead in 5 games, it was all over in less than 3 hours. Looks like Tony and Sonny were the only winners, both backers only broke even.

Five straight....damn that's strong. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing Tony C. play at your event, Tom.
I guess Santos needs some work on his one pocket game but I give him a lot of respect for giving Tony a chance to get his (or his backers) money back.
Who taught Tony how to play one pocket? If they're local, maybe I can get some lessons.
I really need to start playing the Hardtimes 20 dollar monthly 1-pkt tourney so I can learn from Tony and Billy Palmer. - these guys play world class one pocket.

Billy Palmer, Mark Haddad, Ed Ames, Robert Aldana, Roger Estelle, Bart Mahoney, Joey Gebron, Tony Chohan and OnePocket.org's own John Henderson (John usually cashes)
Always a tough field....
The most we've ever has is 32 (twice in the last 18 month) usually there is 20+
with a max of $300 added base on 30 players @$10/player.
Race to two on both sides.
True DE in the finals.
Some of the very best One Pocket I've ever seen
Tom, I think you crossed up the monthly tourney (20-32 entries) with the Jamboree... :)
Troy... Just trying to help... :)

Troy, Tom was responding to the end of my post where I said I needed to play in the monthly 20 dollar entry tourney.
The 6/5 tourney is listed as 500 added in the ON THE WIRE pool newsletter, I think.
Haddad is also a strong player. Is Amar out of the area or is his one pocket game not that strong? Don't seem to hear much about him lately...
He was in Vegas with cousin Tony and Bryce. He floats under the radar cause he owes people so much money.

According to Gene Miller, Amar has been kicking butt in SF tournaments, winning something like 15 matches in a row before losing one. I don't know what his 1P game is like, but I assume he plays as strong as his cousin-- IF he leaves the sauce alone. :(
