This question will make it fairly obvious that i am new to one pocket but here goes:Can one pocket be played reasonably on a 4ftx8ft table as well as a 9 fter?My wife, being totally unreasonable(background laughter at this point) will only let me move one wall in our basement thus giving room for an 8 ft but not for a 9 ft table.Up to this point we have had a 3 1/2 x 7 olhausen and the closest thing to one pocket we could play was a game my son(much better player than me) calls "short rack" basically one pocket played with 10 balls.Anyone ever played that? Thanks,Mike

See u asked this on az also but did not mention 8 ft table. Either way it is basically useless for one pocket practice. Angles are all different and speed would always be different for safties.
By the way what do u do when u tie 5 to 5?

Thanks for the response. As for the 5 to 5 ties,it never comes up.My 20 yr. old son does/has plays a lot of tournament/$ games.I am 46 and just started playing a couple of years ago.He consistently smokes me.Mike

Mike-- Hold out for knocking down the wall and getting a 9-footer. Tell her your son will come back and visit after he leaves home if there's a 9-footer, but that he won't if it's an 8-footer. Or tell her it'll embarrass him in front of his friends. Otherwise cook up some other approach, and deal. You'll regret it later if you don't. :(

Would you suggest one with a scorer?

I watched Grady and Hooker play short rack one pocket at the DCC one year, I always thought that woud be a great game to play onna 4X8, kicking two rails behind the rack to break. Man, that could be taxing on the bankroll..HAHAHAHA
