Hello all,
I am new here and just beginning to find my way around. I thought I would tell you about an interesting one pocket game I recently played with George Rood who is 90 years old and a living legend. I play at Airway Billiards in Dayton, Ohio which is where George lives and plays. I have the honor of playing with him several times a week. In a recent match with George I personally saw him run 8 and out 2 games in a row which has never happened to me before. Does anyone have any stories about George when he was in his prime?

Hello all,
I am new here and just beginning to find my way around. Does anyone have any stories about George when he was in his prime?I interviewed George for OnePocket.org, and that interview is 'in the works'. Of course, if you are around him much you've probably had a preview of some of his stories. My understanding is that he retired from competition in the 50's, so he has very few peers remaining from his 'prime'. I thought it was interesting that he was mainly a 9-ball player back in the early days, because my impression was that 9-ball only came into being in the 20's or so -- right when George first came up -- which makes him a 'first generation' 9-ball champ. There are not many major cue games that can point to a living first generation champion. Kudos to George!
