Virtual Pool 3 is the best pool and billiards simulation for PC ever.

I can say that. I play this game for more than 5 years now, mostly online.
Different from most other pool games you can actually 'feel' the stroke.
There is no preset speed, you stroke with the mouse.
From regular shots to masse and jump.. everything is possible.

We have a online community of a few hundred players.
You can find a good game of pool 24/7.
Straight pool, 9 ball, One Pocket, Rotation, 1/3 Cushion.. you name the game!
Free online tournaments almost every day.

I've tried that, Virtual Pool Hall, 3-d Pool, etc.

The thing that bothers me about the game is execution. I can't even begin to line up shots in the virtual games that I would trivially sink in real life. But the computer always has at the ready some 120 degree kiss off the far rail that sinks the object ball in the corner, something like that.

I would like to see 'expert', AI auto-play in these, particularly for one-pocket. Some of these play reasonably well, but then choke or throw the game if the 'wrong' shot is presented to the computer. It would be better if it played like one of the best, as you might get in chess programs, perhaps. That's why I asked in the other thread if there were any systematic treatment of one-pocket play as there is of chess.

It might be interesting to have the computer play itself, if it played reasonably close to real-life, as a sort of tutorial, as a cheap and dirty 'video series' if you will. I think that's missing. I don't see why it couldn't be included, 'avatars', personalities, tendencies based on the programmers taking in hours and hours of play from actual videos. While that wouldn't be the sum of one-pocket, I'm sure, it might be a better start?
