How early does the lodging discount code normally come out?

Thanks,
Keith

I cannot tell you with any kind of authority, but what I have noticed in general, the Derby City website tends not to get updated for the next year until kind of later in the year -- so I would start checking in earnest in like September -- but peak in a little sooner in case I am wrong. I noticed one year they sent me an email mid-October that appears to announce the room rates for that year. That sounds about typical from memory.

You could call Diamond late summer or sooner too, even if you don't see it. Maybe someone will know even if it is not up on the website yet.

That's just my best guess.

I have heard, maybe not accurately, that if you have a players card and did gamble in the casino that you could secure a room at a very discounted rate right away. I'm actually going to try it and I'll let you guys know the results.

Also, if you have a Ceasars/Harrah's card -- and I have heard ESPECIALLY if both you and your roommate have one, you might be able to get a much better rate booking early and totally ignoring the "discounted" Derby Rate. That's because the discounted Derby rate is discounted from a jacked up Derby rate -- the regular room rates at the Horseshoe other times of year are lot cheaper lol. I know you can't circumvent like this when it gets anywhere near close to DCC but I have heard it might work earlier...

Just saw Jerry mentioned this as I was typing lol.

Guys,

I really appreciate the replies/suggestions.

You could perhaps also just reserve a room and advise them that you will be contacting them in the future with a discount code.

Mike,

That was my original plan but at this point I can't put a lot of faith in it. I called a few times last week with that question and got a 50/50 split on the responses as to whether this could be done.

Steve,

I actually compared the "discounted" rates with the rates that I was quoted. At the time, it was actually about $100 cheaper to book a room without the discount.

I'll definitely be checking back in.

Thanks To All,
Keith
