Peter is crossing it the other way to leave the CB down on the foot rail. I think that sells out the 1 ball bank unless you get real far over...(you can run the CB into the 10 and its pretty free, or go 3 rails around with the CB and come under the 10)

I think we are confusing the kick with the bank. If i'm banking i'm playing all bottom right to create a slight masse to flatten out the angle coming in. If kicking i think i also suggested using bottom right...but on further review Peters shot using left is most likely the correct way to get the cue ball back to where it started on the kick...

This is what I like using a bit of right to direct the cue ball to that area. I would do this even if I didn't have a couple of balls to protect. I remember talking to Tom Wirth about this situation.

Tip of right spin, try to bank the 7 about half way over on the foot rail... this should put the cb back near where it is now taking the side pocket scratch out of the equation... play from there...

I agree. This is a dangerous position.

I think I would take a different approach and try to get out safely.

I would hit the left side of the 7 ball with Low Left English attempting to spin the 7 as far over to my side as possible. At the same time killing the cue ball as close to the middle of the end rail as I could.

depending how much toward the middle diamond the cue ball goes
the cut for the bank is pretty thin and for me not a gimme
the cueball will be hot off the thin hit and the 10 ball is still makeable
might want to think twice about shooting it

Funny thing, i like that little thin cut bank on the 7 a lot. Thats why it was my first choice here. I'm playing in the Memphis my first match and its hill hill i need one and he needs three. Two of the balls are out of play and the ball is laying by his hole just like this one from just about the same exact position with the cue ball. I think half the room is watching our match..I shoot it and hit it bad and make it right in his hole...lol I don't think i've ever done that.Those tight pockets seemed to get much tighter after that and i ended up losing...lol I guess i'll never learn because i would shoot it again. Just call me tin cup..
