To me, it is completely ridiculous. Sorry, but it is. Let us just say I invented the 100 meter dash just now. People love it, and it is well received, but there are some problems. They ask me, "what happens when a guy jumps the gun". My answer.... "ahhh, whatever, just do what you think". Another...

I will just show my ass here and say this stuff continues to frustrate me to no end. Just example after example of stuff like this in one pocket. Just over and over and over the same problematic patterns pop up that seem to purposefully continue without any thought other than "let him rerack". That...

I was commenting more on what I think the rule should be. But if i had to guess, as I have been saying, a person picking up a moving cueball in the middle of a game of one pocket i am betting is loss of game. According to the official rules i mean. This is the thing and part of my point, why is this...

Coming off of 7 is just so strongly in favor of your opponent. The one hole is just worth so much we all know that intuatively, because you are in a spot and you do not have to play position on another ball and you sre constantly shooting at the game, which all changes when out of the one hole. P...

There is one of those one pocket book shots in here, kiss bank the 4 and send the 6 two rails to your hole and draw the cueball. How many times to you get a chance to win a game with 9 balls

I think the possibility of making a ball on shots like this favors you more than leaving a couple of balls tied up.

I agree we do not really want to move for our opponents, but more importantly in my estimation you do not want to hinder your own offensive opportunities.

I do not see this thread as being about what players should do to make their opponents more comfortable and want to continue playing with them. The thread is about what should happen, according to the rules, when a player purposefully stops a moving cueball during a game of one pocket. What if...

Another thing to think about here is what if the seated player essentially did the same thing, and grabbed the cb as it was on its way to hit the rack. Would this not be loss of game? Or how would you handle that? Seems he is committing the same level of offense in my estimation.

Another note on this topic that has always fascinated me, we tend to have this innate need for a game of pool to start "properly". I know i have had opponents miscue breaks many times in nine ball tournaments. I simply accept the foul, at least under the rules I have played by, take ball in hand, an...

Let's look at this as if it were a game for 1 million, that way we can figure it out without the cloudy "well it was just a $20 game between friends" stuff. Good rules need to punish shooters, otherwise, they will just continue to do the stuff (as we see here by the way). Of course a game starts...

i would bank the 12 here with a high ball, right into the 8 it looks like.

That should be straight up loss of game. What we actually do is another matter.

Striking cueball, then intentionally guiding the cb after it has been struck. Loss of game 100%.

I am going all out to get that 2 in my hole here kissing off that ball and the bank is right there for my next shot. That bank is even gonna lay where you can knock the 9 out and get position on it possibly. The balls are going to be gone soon and with the score the way it is you are too much of an ...

One year, but how about 10 years after expenses? If you say it i am sure it is true, but again, if i am guessing a player coming out positive year after year is fudging and dumping games or on the other end of it. Not to mention it can only be done if being backed in large games in my estimation....

Like i was saying, i do not think anyone knows how to make pool gambling work for them. You would, necessarily in my opinion, have to improve every single day forever to make gambling actually work. If someone is getting backed every game that is viable, or a champion, or both. Keep track of all expe...

Just that gambling is such a different animal when you are paying 1.50 per hour each player vs 15-20 per hour. I was saying the reason a very good player will find you when you come to town, even when you dodge the main spots and go to the bars for example, is because these guys can't get any good ga...

The guy that walks in the middle of your second set and asks you to play is the one. He finds you because there aint two red cents to rub together for his skill otherwise. I remember toward the end when i was figuring out pool is a complete and utter bust. I met a good player in a large city ...

I notice pool players are very secretive and i never quite got it. I really do not care either way but i do wonder what is the problem with giving up rooms and first names. Don't most good players welcome action? The entire hustling undercover thing is such a farce. Nobody is undercover anymore. To...
