Right about Jerry

I watched that match Monday night and Jerry played great. I could not believe his speed and cue ball control on those really fast and slick Diamond tables. They were lightning fast. To adjust that...

There were more than that

I know the computer showed 35(the staff had no idea why) but there were 47 players out of a max of 48 allowed.

Slight correction

I know the tournament board that ran live on the computers showed 35 players, but in actuality there were 46 players in the tournament. They could not explain why it showed 35. The max for the...

What a great article, it covered everthing.
I do however disagree with the story regarding Walter Tevis and the Hustler.
The book was written before anyone knew of Ronnie Allen. I knew Ronnie in...

Still agree to disagree

I too have 60 years experience of playing. I have asked several top players and they all agree with me, not to say John is completely wrong, I see his thinking and yours, but if I need one ball to...

I again agree to disagree

You also say slow roll. Why not shoot it like I explained, do not slow roll it.
Medium speed is fine. You were having a rough time with all those cross banks no matter where they lay. I understand...

well then

They should have leveled it before match. 1/4 of a ball on that tight table was like parting the red sea.

Just being a wise ass

Could u observe from behind the counter how bad the right pocket rolled out.
In my opinion it cost Ghost the match. I thought his game ball was in twice and it rolled out. Of course I was rooting...

I agree to disagree

First, why do u have to shoot it soft? If after 60 years of playing u have no confidence in making a spot shot then u should not be playing. I would shoot with enough speed to get it back up table...

Great match

Hey John, watched most of all 3 days and really enjoyed it. I just have one question if you don't mind answering. Why, on the last game when u had a spot shot to win the match with any easy safe did...

Slightly different but better

The ending Freddy read was different than yours here.
"Just think of us when shooting the nine"
"For you'll be up here when it's your time"

I think that was better.

I think Jerry went two and out in San Jose also. He might have won one but I guess he is not playing so good right now. Tough...

Kick break can be effective

If you can leave the cue ball in the stack it can be very effective. The guy I practice with all the time uses it to irritate me all the time. He is very good at it.
