I'm with you, Doc. Kicking at the 11 has a miniscule margin for error. Scott may be able to do it but I'm not comfortable taking thin cut, jacked up, table length bridge shots like the one on the 9....

Hi all. My name is Nathan Reeves, I'm 32, and I've been playing pool as long as I can remember. My dad went to night school when I was a kid and he used to take me to the rec center on campus before...

The only reason I would take an intentional is to gain a tactical or positional advantage. I don't see one here. It seems that the only response to any intentional will be a return intentional if a...

Would there be enough room to 2- rail the 8 past the 3 to your hole and leave the cue on the top rail?

Would you want to try to cut it from off the rail where the cue is? The angle you're shooting at could create some interesting side spin as well as a good bit of follow. Do you risk selling out...

If the 9 is close enough to the bottom rail, I like one-railing the 6 to my pocket and following with the cue to the side rail.

If the 9 can be cut from up there, I would try Frank's shot and...

Would a hard kick off the bottom rail to the 2 to clear it and the 7 be an option? Would it be feasible to keep the cue safe shooting with enough speed to clear both?

I think that option only leaves the 11 for a return bank without removing the 2. If your opponent banks the 11, he/she could leave you in exactly the same place you are now with two threats instead...

I would send the 7 one rail to me side with just enough draw to pull the cue between the 9 and 10. If I get lucky the 7 pushes the 1 towards my side, too.

I think you're right. I must've hastily looked at it when I uploaded the picture because I did so from my phone. Next time, I'll back up a little bit to get a more complete pic. Thanks everyone for...

If I had tried it, the 13-7 was wired to his hole and I probably would have made if for him then left a shot on the 13. Course I say this and what I did wasn't any better. I softly massed the cue in...

Sportiest trap I've ever seen

Disco Dave did this to me earlier. Brutal doesn't even begin to describe it. And yes... The 3, 8, and 10 are frozen on the cue. For orientation, the little blur at the corner of the pic is his pocket.

Thanks, Rodney. I'll see if I can make it there. Again, it was a pleasure meeting you and Dave at Bogie's. We'll need to do that again soon.

Unfortunately, Skinny Bob's is on the north side of Austin and is too much of a drive. I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in the area. Thanks, Dave.

San Antonio pool halls

I'll be in downtown San Antonio for a few days on business from February 10th through 13th. Anybody know where I could find a good 9 foot table and possibly somebody to play?

I understand with the cue so close to the rail that you would be jacked up a bit but you should be able to come off of the 5 with a bit of left to send the cue into the side rail and down to the...

Rail first into the 7 sounds like a great shot if you're confident enough to pull it off. I would only be worried about your opponent being able to get at and clear balls by your pocket. You've got...

My drawn angles might be a little off but this would be my shot. Send the 5 away and leave my opponent stuck behind the 7. It's even better if he/she's frozen underneath the 7.

Could he have reverse 2-railed the 7 around to his side and left the cue ball buried in the stack? Or, anything that leaves the cue ball near the center of the top rail without a ball for his...

If you kick the 5 against a good player, he/she will bank it right back to or into their pocket which leaves you either right back where you started or racking the next game. A bad player will most...
