Checked in with my road partner, Kentucky Bill, and took a walk around to check things out. Tables are all set up and took a look in one of the rooms upstairs and it had 6 or 8 champions hanging around waiting for something, and then something showed up.

Dave Peat, The Viffer or Dippy Dave, came in and asked if anyone wanted to give him the nuts. No one bit yet, but I am sure he will be in action sooner or later. He is walking around with his cue stick and looking for a game.

Should be another great Derby. I will post anything interesting I come across.

Been a long day & going to get some rest & hit it later tonight.

Well, the Viffer is in action playing Mike Dechaine 15/4 and Mike is being coached by Corey D.

The Viffer is confusing to watch. Usually plays the right shot, banks and takes balls out of the hole pretty good, but will make a mistake at a key time and give up balls. Mike can't spell one pocket but hardly ever misses a ball and with Corey's coaching probably has the best of it IMO. The only downside for him is the games take awhile for him to get 15 balls and the Viffer can win quick.

They are still at it, but I am going to bed. Been a long day. Saw the Ghost practicing in the Az room tuning up for our match.

More tomorrow. John

I wonder what the stakes were in Dave/Mike. Since Mike doesn't know 1P, it's good that he's getting coached, but it's questionable whether Corey should be his best choice. I'd think someone like Varner or Ike Runnels would be a better selection.;) 1P is not Corey's best game either.

Corey is probably a better choice than a more conservative mover IMO. He is coaching a guy who almost never misses and needs to go for his hole. If Mike tried to play like Ike or Nick he would get dead out of stroke.

Dave was back to even or close to it later in the session. Do t know how they came out.

Well, I got spanked three to zip.

I need another old guy who will miss once and a while to let me ease into it.

I bought a new break cue to use and have not even chalked it up yet.

I guess I will buy back and try again tomorrow.

Friday Night

Friday Night

Tonight they held the ring bank pool match with six players buying in for 2k each.

John Brumbeck and Shannon Daulton were the final two alive when I left.

Dave "Viffer" Peat was matched up again with Mike Dechaine in the TAR room. There is limited seating in the room and the crowd around the door was too packed to get close enough to sweat it and find out how they were doing.

I bought back in the banks and am hitting the sack early hoping to get more than one match in tomorrow.

Viffer IS NOT playing Mike Dechaine. Mike is playing Shane Van Boening ten ball and Viffer is breaking for Shane.

Viffer ended up beating Dechaine yesterday in one pocket getting 15/4.

I saw some of the 10 ball match on TAR. Deschaine won it, 21-18. I didn't hang around to see what else might happen. Finished at 11:45.
