The Verdict?

The Verdict?

Well DCC is almost a week away and we've gotten together a pretty good bankroll and I'm sure that almost everyone who is going to vote/contribute has.
Can we get an update on votes? Do we know who is going to be sponsored yet?

I've tallied the votes but a few members have not expressed a preference

Thank you all for your contributions and your votes. There are a few here I did not see a preference, which might be intentional, which is fine. I just want to call attention that now is the time if you want to weight in.

DCC player vote

DCC player vote

Steve,
I started to send a PM , but changed my mind. I hope it did not go. I do not think my vote should count. While I joined a few years ago, it is only recently that I have started checking in daily... some might say possibly lurking. I do not know the history of everyone nor their speed. I want to support the player selected by the members and support onepocket.org. I will post a bio soon in the members intro thread.

If you guys do a members only handicapped tournament, contact me. I will kick in for the prize fund.

Steve I never gave you my votes. Im thinking voting should be based on skill level. Now I don't know everyones game, particularly the guys east of Las Vegas. So I refrained.
However if I had a personal choice, other than Dr Bill who I presume will be doing booth duties, I would vote for guys on the West Coast who I think deserve a chance and are capable.
My first choice would be long time member Wayne (Pullen) who has a solid game and have played many champions even and able to pull a win. But he isn't going.
My second then would be Jerry Matchin. A top LA player who is active on the boards and never been repped by OP.org.
Then would be John Henderson but he has declined.

From what I heard I would like to see Hacker and Tom Wirth up there but I gather they've both had their shots.
So my vote goes to Jerry Matchin who I think is going.

Im going to advocate supporting for a player in the Banks Division and wonder why we don't have anyone. Has there never been any interest? My choice would be of course John Brumback.

JAM 50 *Need your vote*

I truly just wanted to donate to this very worthy cause as well as the website as a whole. I think what you're doing here is wonderful! :)

I do not know all the members well enough to cast an educated vote. So, with that said, I'm abstaining. It would be like me voting for the President of the United States and not knowing the candidates. Meanwhile, I live in Washington, D.C., where there is taxation without representation. Our votes don't even count for President of the United States.

If Freddy was still alive, I would receive a friendly phone call with him campaigning for this guy or that guy. Freddy was always trying to keep the spirit of this forum alive. I miss him.

Thank you all for voting!

Thank you all for voting!

At this point, everyone who wants to weigh in has had a chance to. These are the results based on voters first choices only. I did not tally the 2-3 choices because the margin was significant enough for member's first choices that no tie-breakers were needed.

Ghost 17 1st & 1 split vote = 17-1/2
John 3 1st & 1 split vote = 3-1/2
Androd 1
Lou 1
Jerry Matchin 1

So, this year our sponsored player is Bruce Luke Perry, AKA 'Ghost'.

Thank you all for your support and see you there!

Ghost...let us know what kind of banners, horns, foam hands, or anything else you would like to see as we flood the stands with supporters.

On a serious note for a change...my very sincere thanks goes out to the 17-1/2 members who voted for me - it's very gratifying to have that appreciation shown to me.

Now then, on a less serious note...

Re. the 3-1/2 members who didn't vote for me....at first the 'bad Ghost' was going to put a curse on them: "That they would forever dog key shots in important One Pocket games..and also that every time they washed their cars, a seagull or duck would fly over their car that night, and drop an 'air barrel' on their car for them to be greeted with in the morning"......:heh......

But then the 'good Ghost' took control, and 'taking the high road', canceled out that vengeful plan...and so in parting the 'good Ghost' will instead, just quote a poor carpenter from back in the day, re. the 3-1/2 members who didn't vote for him...

"Forgive them father, for they know not what they do."

Another 'campaign promise' that I meant to make earlier, if elected...

If there's any $$$ leftover, or if I win any in the tournament...I will put that $$$ into action with other onepocket.org members - to keep that cash in the family...

Sure, and anytime you play any 1P.org members, you'll give 'em the best of it, right? You know, just to keep the money in the family. ;)

Sounds to me like a backwards way of saying, "Don't throw me in the briar patch." :heh
