Maybe a little on the cautious side:

I didn't see the other post before I was going to post mine. However it is just a tad different but with the same result. I think this is the easiest shot to pull offwith the layout as such.---Smitty[CUETABLE]http://CueTable.com/P/?@3AYdx4BElV3CCXy4DBCb3EUmI3FDpQ4GDXn4HIdo1IOpk3JLqL3KVeK3LSDM3MOsN3NFIQ3OIXM4PRBG4Qdvt3WCXy3WbwV3WGfq4kRBG3kBKC3kQno3kacO@[/CUETABLE]

...but I must. The carom looks good to me. Of course, before you shoot it you must know how to shoot caroms.

You guys are just too smart.

Ghost described it. It doesn't have to go to be a good shot, either.

I have to disagree. Looks like a ton of right here MIGHT make the ball, but theres several problems with shooting here. Scratching off the 7 or the other ball - you are headed right at them. The 4 goes right off the 5 right to his hole, and will probably sit there. If you shoot here, you gotta pop it. Thenyo turn whitey loose while hehasa favorable position.

Or, keep it simple, and wait for another opportunity, while attempting to tie up his pocket..theres a lot of low table places he cant leave you, so force him to leave you low.. theres a cross bank, a straight back, if his balls are tied up the 9 is a free shot.. He can't kick you into the underside of the stack, he'll leave you straight in....

You don't have to hit much of the 2-ball for this kind of split shot, so the 2-4 combo doesn't really come in to play. Set it up and try it and I think you might like the split shot better. It is actually reasonably controllable. I did make it extra easy here by leaving an open path, and stoppers at the far end :)

I can see the pro's agree...I must admit i lack confidence in the shot and need to hit it some more - I also didnt see your post of the split I thought Ghost had called it wrong...

Also the 14-ball banks cross-corner, but it's difficult to do anything with the CB. If it could be drawn to the head rail, it might be an aggressive alternative. Otherwise I like the safety off of the 3-ball. The split shot would be fun for a casual match, but too many things could go wrong for use in a serious contest.

Ace from that angle the cue ball isn't going to travel the path you diagrammed.

Brother Rod......I do believe that you're cheating the wei table diagram here - this shot is not available...shooting this shot, at the angle that you have shown the cueball going after hitting the 3ball, the cueball is not getting past the 4ball without hitting it - no way - and also, your right english is going to help deflect the cueball into the 4ball.

As long as the rock shoots the gap without hitting the 4 ball(difficult to tell on the WEI) I like this shot. I slightly modified Rod's layout here. Offense and defense on the same shot is always good. I believe the cueball will go "through" the 3 ball rather than carom off of it. All you have to play here is the cueball, the 3 takes care of itself.

Ghost, With force follow, like i'm trying to beat the kiss. (see below) I don't think getting thru would be much problem. Not cutting the 3 ball much should help.
Rod.
PS, You're right the WEI can be decieving. :(

Rod....... Of course I know you mean to f-follow and not cut the 3 much - but even doing that, imo, as the wei-table layout looks to me, no way are you not going to hit the 4ball.
