A few months ago there was buzz about a one pocket tourney in Baton Rouge, but haven't heard anything lately. Is it still go? If so how bout some latest info?

It was moved to Chalmette (near New Orleans) in December. Here is Joe's last announcement of it from June 15:
Lacy's Cue Tournament Dec. 2-6, 2015
Wed: Bank Pool Ring game
Thurs: One pocket race to 4 double elimination (32 man limit)
Calcutta: 7 PM
Sat: Nine Ball race to 7 double elimination (128 man limit)
Calcutta: Noon
Dates were finalized yesterday. Details to follow. Contact Frank Haines at Lacy's Cue in Chalmette for details.

I imagine that BRLongArm will start alerting us in the next month or two. The event should be a good one. The one awhile back in N.O. had a warm up event for us mortals the week prior to the big tournament, but this one doesn't appear to be having one of those. Still, with 17 big Diamonds (plus 1 ten-footer), and only 32 players, there will be plenty of tables open for action.
All the bar box specialists will be able to scurry around in the other side of the room where the toy tables (although Diamonds) are located.
If you haven't yet been to Lacy's Cue, then you're in for a pleasant surprise. The room is of a very high quality.
