I hear Jaybird (Jason Brown) got the 1P break from T-Rex and closed out a 5 on top set in 7 games!

We watched this match on the action room stream yesterday, it didn't last long. Jason (whom I didn't know before last night) destroyed Tony. Quickest head set I've ever watched. The whole time we were all thinking, damn, we thought Tony could play 1P....but Jason made him look like he was just learnin' it.

Dang, I wish I could have watched that Trex set...

In any case, here is what is frustrating to me...

Round 3 one pocket, it has TBD next to my time, my table and my opponent??? How can they not know who I am playing? Is it because that person is someone in the bank tourney still and they have to see what time they are done with round 11?

I will plan this event better next time and have a room booked for he week at the casino but as it is now driving back and forth (hour and 45 min drive one way), my sleep is suffering :)

I dont know if I need ot be there by 10 AM this morning just in case they start my match then or if that means I am good until at least after 2 PM where they have times listed...its a mystery...

Oh well, going ot head out soon just in case...

Cincy-- They may have a phone number for the tournament desk. You could call before you leave home to make sure that you're scheduled. Good luck in your match!

Oh contraire... I'm not sure which Bill I played, but it was not the same guy from last year. He kicked my ass. Last game I had him 6-2 and he starts his run with a two railer while swinging whitey around (you know the shot). Runs a few more balls and gets stuck... So he hits another two railer to keep things goin! Major kudos Bill.

I did play well a few times this week. Got 8-7 from Bernie for 4 hours and ended even. Played the Ghost even for 5 hours and broke even. Notched a few small wins though too :). And am still hanging in the tournament. A great time as expected. I think I'll sleep for a week when I get home.

Mitch, I was the one who got some sleep. I'm ready for the rubber match but I'm not waiting until next year to play. You played pretty darn good yourself. I know to never leave you a bank because I think you only missed one. The only difference between my play last year and this is I brought my cue. No sleep for the wicked Mitch, keep playing.

Our man 12squared is doing well at 2-0 (if it's the same D.G.)! Good going, bro. Most of our guys had pretty brutal draws. But Jerry Matchin, Ghost, Lou F., and Bernie P. are still in it. Bernie and Lou are 2-0.

Any other of our guys doing well?

I think that the banks finals are tonight. Should be a great one, especially if our man is in it (don't want to mention his name so as not to jinx him:cool:).

BTW, Mitch must play pretty sporty if he did well with Bernie getting only one ball; and playing even with Ghost...

Thanks Doc 😊. I have no losses yet but unfortunately have to catch an early flight tomorrow no matter what which blows. I just hope that is an issue by then lol.

One more day of

That's pretty sporty, I think I had you underclocked! Either that, or something filled Bernie's and Ghost's hearts with mercy. But that doesn't seem likely at all.

So I knew the big foot shit was over so I buy the stream, hoping to see late round banking action. So they decide to do a one pocket with a young Russian kid who has played two or three times in his life, named Chinakhov. His opening break he misses the head ball. Then he ducks on the wrong side when he doesn't have to at all. Kiamco plays careless and lets him win two anyway. One bad shot after another. Great choice there Accu-stats..NOT. I hate ya...

As I'm sitting here waiting for my flight I thought I'd give my Derby report.

Saturday night dinner was great. The food and Onepocket friends were all great.

Sunday was a day I could only dream about. I played the best most consistent 1p of my life. I beat almost everyone I was in action with, thanks Disco Dave, Bernie, and Miller. Max Eberle quit me after two games breaking even.

I lost my first match to Warren Kiamco 3-1. I played very well but the trap I put Warren in wasn't tight enough and his QB control was near perfect.

After playing Miller till 4am I was a disaster all day Monday. My buy back match went hill hill. First game I was up 4 balls to 0 and gave the game away. Second game I was up 6-2 and gave it away. Third game I was up 7-1 shooting my winner. As I was looking at the 15 ball I swear it looked like it said 115. Holly crap 2.5 hours of sleep is bad bad news. Thank god I wasn't flying a plane. I dogged it bad and sold out a bunch. But my opponent gave it back. Fourth game I was up and dogged it but was given back to me. On the break my opponent sold out a back cut that I missed but left it close and the QB long. He got the ball out but I out move him and held it together for the win.

Today I played Niels Feijen and lost 3-0. I was consistently hooked or in bad positions. WOW these world champions control the QB so well it makes it very difficult to play. I did manage to came with a few great shots but never got the extra roll I needed.

Thanks to all the sponsors for supporting me and Onepocket.org

So I drew Tony Chohan for round 3 and I had mixed emotions about it. On one hand, I was glad that I had a chance to play someone of his caliber and take a shot at one of the champions. On the other hand, I may have preferred playing someone down a few notches where I might get lucky and win :)

In any case, as we were waiting for the next open table to play our match, my nerves started getting the best of me. I knew that he was the one that had more to lose than me, but I couldn't fade them.

Even though he is the favorite to beat me 999 out of 1000 times, I actually had a chance to win every single game. I would have rather him just ran over me than to have me beat myself (or at least help him beat me pretty easily).

Game 1: I make a good break and he tries to escape it and fails and sells out where I have a shot at my hole and a chance to get 4 or 5. I make the first ball and the 2nd ball is near my hole bu I am up against the long side rail and I have to spin the ball into my hole cutting it thin. I do so, but then go 2 rails and scratch in the corner. So I go from having 4 or 5 to 0 and he has ball in hand. I lose that game.

Game 2: I escape his break and we go back and forth a bit, I make a couple of decent "move" shots but nothing spectacular. He shoots at his hole and misses and leaves me another shot. I shoot it and roll the Cb down towards the bottom rail so i can make an easy cross corner. he has a few balls by his hole but if I just cinch the cross corner nice and easy I can also get 2 or 3 more. This shot is one of my 2 cross corner shots that I dogged so bad during the match where if I would have made either one, I could have won that particular game and I may have really had a chance to beat him. I dont cut the bank enough and almost hit it straight on so it comes off the rail and kisses the CB back leaving him straight in with 4 or 5 around his hole, he runs out, 2-0.

Game 3: I break good, we go back and forth a bit and then I play a pretty good shot that forces him to sell out and again, I have a shot at my hole. I have to make an easy cross corner almost straight in. Its sitting where you have to hit it harder than pocket speed, and kind of punch it so you can get the CB back up the table a little bit to shoot at your hole. I have like 4 or 5 balls that will go in my hole if I make this bank. This was the other cross corner I dogged. I shoot it and it goes 2 rails back and forth so I blow the opportunity and we go down to he needs 1 and I need 3 and its back and forth a few shots and he goes on to win that game to put me out of my misery.

Don't get me wrong, he made some pretty good shots and ran balls well, but I for sure had a chance every game...

All in all was a fun time and I look forward to the next one. Good job all the 1p.org guys and for those left in it, good luck and give em hell! :)

Mktbank, Still undefeated thru 3 rounds?

Nah. I'm out. Lost in rounds 3 and 4. In round 3 I was down 1-0. I won the next game to make it 1-1. In the third game I was down 7-5 and boxed until I came back to win it. Fourth game I had balls by my hole and left him uptable. He miscues and leaves me on the short rail with 4 balls near my hole. Just had to back cut a close one to get started. I wanted to stay close... And I babied it and left it in the jaws! (Ffffff). And he pulled out that game and the hill game. All battles. Took almost 4 hours overall.

Last match I played a guy who fired at everything.. And made them. It was crazy. He was up two games in about 15 minutes. Then I just locked him up until he had to fire and I won the next two games to take it to the hill. During the fourth game, I probably hit my best shot since I've been here. There were two balls on the bottom rail and another a couple inches off. One was near his first diamond, and I double banked that ball in my hold and held there for the next two balls, and the out. Last game I'm up 1-0 and leave him uptable on his side with balls by my hole. He fired the cue into my corner, hits two balls, which carom into a third by his hole and drops. Nauseating. He won that game and now I'm a tourist.

Ok. John Brumback wins without losing a match in the banks. Not bad...

Out

Shane Mc Minn knocked me out in the fifth round 3/1. You simply can't play him safe.

Bernie snuck out against a good player from Detroit in a nail biter.
