He's in the general Bay Area. John Henderson told me where he's living, but I forgot the exact locale. I believe he left Vacaville. He plays in tournaments in S.F. at Family Billiards, and others. Also Sacramento, and --I'm sure-- the Reno Open. Heard he's still playing strong! Where do you live?sizl said:

The nickname list Nickname Page has been re-sorted, so the nicknames are with the first and last names, in ordinary fashion. You might need to 'refresh' your screen to see the change if you have visited recently.
I was curious if anybody tried to go through the whole 159 names to try to match the nicknames up with the real names? If you did, how'd you do?
The list has been expanded to about 190 or so, but I'm still looking for more names to add, so don't be shy... There are very few current names on the list, so that's a fertile area if you want to try your hand at adding names.
So far it looks like BJ and Diane have chipped in the most

Sorry I got in on this late. It looks like everyone has done a great job.
You might want to add Andrew St. Jean. He didn't play a huge amount of One Pocket but did play some and was a top player and gambler (He died young: 52 in '54.). Known as The Lowell Kid, The Saint, and occasionally as the Masked Marvel (for Coca-Cola)
When I did the Legends of the Road story on 'Louis Goff, Jr.' his said his name was spelled 'Lewis'.
According to his family, 'Glen Womack' spelled his name 'Glenn.' They also told me he got his poolname from his hometown in eastern Oklahoma, which is spelled Eufaula.
Earl Heisler said he was also known in his early days as The Roadmaster, in reference to a 1941 Buick he owned that blew up in Phoenix on his first big road trip.
Sam Crotzer was also called 'Robert Ryan' because he looked so much like the actor.
As a teenager Danny Jones was called 'Kennesaw', according to Norm Webber who played him a lot at that time in Atlanta.
Jersey Red said that Tommy Halliday was also known as 'Doc'.
This is a list of poolnames and I don't know that he had one, but you might want to add Cleo Vaughn to the list.
And maybe his associate, N.M. 'Junior' Moore, who's still around, now designing games for casinos.
And maybe 'Little Rock' Brown who was also known later as 'Capitol City' Brown. Don't know his first name.
And maybe Earl 'Fagen' Schriver.
'Big Nose' Roberts, first name unknown to me.

Very sorry to hear of Eddie Burton passing. I hope it was peaceful. I can still remember him (and that little hat) from the Johnston City Tournaments. He played very well BUT he hustled better. He gave me a map of the Carolina's with every town and player one year at Johnston City. About 2 weeks after, I left St. Louis and was headed down there. I stopped in Paducah to play a match set up by another fellow I had met in Johnston City, Cecil Hall. After the score & split, I decided to head west instead with this Cecil guy and wasn't able to get to the Carolina's for over 6 months. But when I did, it was like following the dots. I knew who to play, how to play & who NOT to play. I stayed there for over 4 months and came back with over $22K profit after expenses. Eddie had put his name, address & phone # on the back of the map so I just sent a Western-Union Money gram to him for $2,200 (the agreed on cut). He called a few days later and said - I can't believe this - I have been selling that map for $50 & $100 and never even thought to just take a cut instead - until that was all you would give me.
I also saw & played Fountain Inn Red. He was excellent on a bar box and I had no chance. On a 4.5 X 9 though, it was a different matter and outcome. One of the best bar table matches I have ever seen was between Fountain Inn Red & Denny Searcy. They played for over 20 hours before Denny got the cheese.

Yeah, The Hat and I played on accu-stats in So. Carolina. The tables were some off breed made in somebody's garage. I never played in a tournament where the tables rolled off worse than these. I wanted to pour gasoline on them and throw a match. (of course I lost to the Hat)

Yeah Freddie I remember how bad the tables were. I recently tried to purchase the accu-stats tape of the match but it is no longer offered in the accu-stats catalog. Shame, it would have been nice to have it to remember the Hat.

I actually borrowed that Accu-stat tape from Eddie and watched it. Remember Buddy Hall and Cardona did the commentary and Buddy stated that that was the very first 1pocket match that Accu-Stats taped. Watching Eddie and The Beard play with those ties they had them wearing. What a riot. Burton actually died in the fall of 1999 while playing pool in N.C. He was winning too. Hey Foxy, I know you real well. Did you know That Bob King also died the other day in the Palace over in Greenville.. I think he was playing pool too. He was Fountain Inn Reds buddy, you know. Email me, Foxy when you have time. I got a deal for you. I tried to mail you but it said you were not wanting email. Sharkies
