I never knew Country's last name. I remember him as being extra smart in a nice way. I learned from him, as did others.

He's in the general Bay Area. John Henderson told me where he's living, but I forgot the exact locale. I believe he left Vacaville. He plays in tournaments in S.F. at Family Billiards, and others. Also Sacramento, and --I'm sure-- the Reno Open. Heard he's still playing strong! Where do you live?sizl said:Any idea where Roger is now?
Tom, is Roger still selling for Buck knives or whoever?SactownTom said:Roger is a traveling salesman/player/gambler.
He's in Vegas at the moment but his home is in Vacaville CA.

You might need to 'refresh' your screen to see the change if you have visited recently.
I was curious if anybody tried to go through the whole 159 names to try to match the nicknames up with the real names? If you did, how'd you do?
The list has been expanded to about 190 or so, but I'm still looking for more names to add, so don't be shy... There are very few current names on the list, so that's a fertile area if you want to try your hand at adding names.
So far it looks like BJ and Diane have chipped in the most

He was a legend in South Carolina for many years and matched up with most players that came thru Greenville SC. Another local player who played terrific 1P was Eddie "The Hat" Burton. Eddie was raised in Anderson SC. Eddie pasted away in 2002 while residing in eastern NC. Eddie picked up 1P in San Francisco during the late 60`s. I saw him play and defeat NY Blackie in Greenville, SC in 1975. Eddie matched up in high stakes games with many great players including Allen Hopkins, Jack Cooney and Mike Segal. Anyone who saw these guys play please post a reply.
How about James "Atlanta Danny" Greer, "Sleepy Bob" never knew his real name, Mike "Babyface" Gulyassy and Gene "The Machine" Browning
