Finally got internet going out here -- and you get to pay for it -- surprising, except that the casinos don't really want you to spend any money or any time on anything but the casinos...

John had two matches today -- he beat Philadelphia room owner "Forty" this morning, only to drop a close one to Danny Smith in the night cap. John got ahead two games to none on Danny, but then Danny started to "go for it" with a few aggressive shots that he hit perfect and then proceeded to maximize his opportunity to win the next three games. Then John won again, forcing a deciding hill hill game (race to 4 on the winners side, three on the left side).

A couple of untimely scratches cost John dearly along the way, and Danny ended up on top. For us east coasters, the nights get long kinda early here...

Tomorrow is another day -- from a different viewpoint on the other side of the chart, for John.

Speaking of Danny -- Danny di Liberto is playing in this, and he too won his first match before getting beat in his second match.

I've been taking photos so I will have some for you guys to see as things go forward...

I took a little break from the One Pocket to go sweat some of the US National 3cushion tournament, going on now at a different Vegas hotel. Pedro Piedrabuena is the only undefeated player in the finals with one more day to go...

We all still have faith in you John, onepocket.org couldn't find a better ambassadour for this event. Win or lose you're still the best :)

In a few hours we will have the first onepocket.org match-up, with me and BernieP getting at it. I really shouldn't be there, my opponent in the first match, David Maddux (sp?), beat himself thanks to a couple of fortunate rolls from me. He moved better than me, but I still somehow managed to win.

Was really nervous before my first match, cause my last real one-pocket match was DCC in 2010. People just don't play the game here in Norway.

JoeyA cruised into a 4-0 win, Lou destroyed his opponent on the tv-table, Henderson's opponent didn't show and Bernie handily won 4-1.

Winner of Henderson's match will play bernie or me.

This whole Vegas-event is great and thanks to Mark Griffin for putting it together!!!

It's too bad that a few of our boys got placed into the same bracket, although that's going to happen in a 64 man field.

Looks like Lou is going to have to tangle with R. Martinez. Well, he's played tough players before.;)

Might be shaping up for a Frost/Schmidt contest in the bottom third of the chart, and a Reyes/Joyner match in the top third.

We also might see a Henderson/Pettipiece contest.

The brackets are online at: http://ctsondemand.com/BracketViewer.aspx?BracketID=16772186

I bought the stream and I was watching it all last night, including Lou beating Richard Harris on the TV table.

Good luck to all the forum members playing in the tourney.

I won my 10am match and play the winner of Bernie and Roy in the morning.

The guy I played, James Davis JR. from the Dallas area, is probably a better player than I am, but he had a scotch doubles match coming up and pretty much just tried to run out every time and gave me lots of shots and of course I started hitting them pretty well. He conceded when the score was 3/1 in my favor because he had to go play in the bar table tournament.

So far I am running pretty good. A forfeit yesterday and a concede today. I would just as soon play but you take em when you get em.

I will say I feel like I am playing pretty good so we will see tomorrow. It will get tougher from now on.

I have not seen him, but there are 7' tables everywhere and this is a big place.

Some of the sweaters from last night:

I do not think John is here Ghost. Even though they are keeping the tables open after the tournament is over, there has not been much action.

I am still licking my wounds from the beatings you and Little Al gave me three weeks ago.

It's time for a BernieP-Henderson match.

BernieP slaughtered me. I'm the trigger-happy kind of player, but Bernie never gave me anything to shoot at. He simply outmoved me, and combined with some silly mistakes from me, it got embarrasing at times :p

Will be a good match with John and Bernie!

Thanks, JR.

Not that I'd ever have to worry about encountering anyone here in Portland, but it's still nice to put a face to a couple of the names I hadn't seen before. With Artie's catalog of stories, I expected him to look much older! What an amazing life to live - you're looking good for all of it.

Keep up the good work, guys! And good luck to John, Roy and Lou in tonight's match-ups.

And from the sounds of it, you're starting to feel your game yourself.. even getting a burn to finally put the hammer down on an opponent for a full match. Bernie may need to eat his weaties tomorrow morning.

What a murderer's row! There are some serious handicappers in that line-up.

But it's nice to see that Artie got a new shirt and hat!:D Just teasing, Artie. You look better than I do...

Artie looks amazing doesn't he? So young and healthy looking. He reminds me of a full bird colonel in the army that I met at Fort Leonard Wood Mo a good while back, with that cap on. I wear a cap most of the time myself. I need to send in two hundred as per my agreement as contr to Lenny or tar or whatever entity. I looked on the tar page where I got the stream and did not see a place for donations. As soon as I find out I will ship..............ne1???

John won tonight's match, 3-1 over Wayne Pullan (sp?). I got some photos -- I should get a few up in the morning.

Funny, when introduced to Artie at DCC I thought, "This can't be him! He's supposed to be like 110, you know, baby sat for Al Capone or something!" :) Freddie always talked like he was old back in the day!

Glad John B. and all the others are doing well. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's match and catching the streaming today.

Brumback won his first match this morning.

Lou lost a tough one against Alex -- 3 games to 1 but it could have nearly gone the other way! I'll let Lou add more, but he played well, and yes, Alex did get a little lucky a couple of times...

I'm headed back down now for a winners side round. John H is still on that side of the bracket.

I hope events like this become a regular thing.

There's a monthly one pocket in your area and you could be a streaming sponsor. It's tax deductible.
