Bananas Billiards here in San Antonio, Tx is closing this saturday. It will be a sad day for me. It has been my second home for the last thirty five years. I guess all things comes to an end sooner or later. A lot of good players came by in the good old days.

I never was there, but it sure is a shame to lose a place that has seen so many good players for so many years...

I played many games there in the 70's and 80's. Very good room, been thinking about going by recently. Oh well, as Doyle says nothing lasts forever.
Played many good players there, some travelers, some locals, some from across the river.
I'd name them, but the list would be too long and my memory to short. :)
Funniest guy I played was Vernon Elliot. Nicest guy was Billy I. Most gamble Freddy Lochemy.

Rodney,

Would you tell us about your game with Vernon Elliot? What was he like? How did he play?

Just looking like him was worth a hundred a day hustling pool.
Big doofus looking guy with green khakis and a John Deere cap.
Looked like he just got off a tractor.
He played good.
He really banked well.
Rod.
