Default Six or No-Count Game

This situation came up a few days ago in a friendly ($10) game with a guy I work with.

He is going to 4 and has three, and I have to run six to win. I have pocket 'A'. I'll post later and show what happened. How would you run six from here? It's my shot, and I knew it would probably be my last chance to win.

Cowboy;
Shoot the 2, then 6 bank the 3, come up for the 13 and then 9,4 or 4,9, looks like it will work for me.

That's what it looks like to me too.

Default Get Six.

You gotta start by banking the 3 ball.

I'm going to shoot the 2, try for an angle on the six, where I can make it and get on the 13...then if I catch the right angle on the 13, I'll go up and catch the 9 and the 4...and follow down and bank the 3 last.
Bear in mind, any time I stray from a "perfect" angle, I may be forced to bank the 3 at that time.

This is a tall order, for a guy who can't make a straight in (me)...but I have played me some 5,6,7 and even 8 no count back in the day.

Playing those games requires more than a little "rocket sugery". Many times if you can't get to your no-count, you have to intentionally hang a ball in your pocket, and hide him behind the wall you've built...with the balls you're lining up on the spot. Thats usually how you manage to win most of those games, against anybody weak enough to give that much weight too.

PS (edited after Rod's post) Rod , if you bank the 3 first, if you make it, you may only run two balls, unless you get lucky enough to get a perfect angle (to do whatever you want next) on the 13...which I assume you are playing shape on.
You wind up on the rail, (or over the 11 ball) it is probably,...end of run.

If you figure you have to run them or lose, the angles look best to me for this: bank the 13 and draw back for the 2, then bank the 3, cut the 6 and go up for the 9, then float across for the 4. If you screw up the shape on the 9 to get to the 4, you've got the possible 2-railer on the 15 or one-railer on the 11 after the 9.

Skin, you don't lose, if you don't run out...you just can't leave him an easy shot for his game ball.
Mighty risky bank on the 13, for your opening number in that spot.

Dennis said he figured it was his last chance to win. That's what I was going on.

The bank on the 13 looks WEI wired to me. As long as I trust the cushions, I figure it is the shot because all the angles are natural after that maybe until you have to go from the 9 to the 4. I don't like trying to get the right angle on the 6 off the 2 to get the right angle on the 13. That is the risky shot, but just IMHO.

If I was playing someone 6 no count to their 4, then they must be a very bad player, so i'm certainly not going to start my inning with the bank on the 13. If I were betting that I could run 6 from this position, then I would consider the 13 ball bank to start with. I would strongly consider playing the 2 ball, then the 13 ball, trying to stay low on the 11 ball. Whatever angle I end up with will give me the ability to go for the 6, and 3 ball, or the 9, and 4 ball.

Alright, alright, alright already!

Billy, back when you were the best 9 ball player in the country and San Jose Dick was playing within a ball of anybody during any era, I cannot imagine either of you passing up that bank on the 13 for a run out and win, unless you thought it would cost you your action.

Man, what has happened to you guys? ???? Fanny's vacuuming and Ghost's manipulating the cord for her to make sure it doesn't get tangled up in the neanderthal cave must have gotten to you.
