Ok, let's try this again over here where everybody can see the pics...

...Steve moved the original "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words" thread to the Member's Only area cuz you guys had to start posting up x-rated pics in the thread......

...Seriously though, post the slut pics over in the other thread, and let's keep this one relatively clean and keep it up over here....this can be a great thread to keep adding to...

...Post up pics of your pool cue, yourself, the table you play on, your beat-list :D or whatever...

...I'll start the ball rolling with a few misc. pics...

1. Here's a pic of Jansco's where the Johnston City Jamboree's were held...don't know who that is in the pic - maybe Freddy knows?...I do know my vintage cars though, and that's a 1962 Plymouth Fury that he's got his hand on.

2. Willie Mosconi's 1950 World Straight Pool Championship trophy - tournament held in Chicago.

3. A very young Earl & Efren...the guy drinking behind them in the white jacket looks like it might be Louie Roberts - not sure.

4. A pic taken about 15 years ago of me and some of the brothers playing 'tonk' at Chris's Billiards - Chicago...that's 'Piggybanks' at the front left...old wooden pool cue lockers on the right....bad grainy pic unfortunately...

...more pics to come...

Here's one from Caesar's South Lake Tahoe in about 1982.
It was scanned from a 35mm slide. Twenty-year old Earl
was there (Not in this pic). He had to stay in the practice
room because he was not allowed into the casino. He
placed well, and he came back the following year to win
the championship.

Lotta familiar faces there.

Rodan.

Damn, I forgot

Damn, I forgot

Ghost I also have that pic of the guy in front of the Show lounge in Johnston City. I neglected to caption the picture with his name. We already went thru the identification of who the hell it was at some point on this forum. Maybe somebody remembers the thread and can provide the info. I'm going to guess Johnny Edwards from Bowling Green KY.

Beard

I take it back, I dont think its Johnny Edwards.

Why was Earl barred from the casino? Was he not dressed for the tournament?

Of the 8 visible guys in the pic, I recognize 6 of them, left to right: ___, Hopkins, Reed Pierce?, Sigel, Efren, ___, Varner, Davenport.

The first guy looks familiar, but I can't place him.

Earl wasn't 21 at the time. You had to be 21 to go into the casino.

The first guy is definately Bobby Williams out of Florida. He played with a McDermott cue.

Not sure but I really don't think that is Reed Pierce either?

The last guy is not Kim D but can't recall his name (old age I guess). As soon as I hit the submit button it will probably come to me

Great picture. The venerable game of 'tonk' is way underrepresented on these forums. I used to play it a lot. Learned very quickly to play a variant of it, knock poker, in the south. Same moves. Same result. I win.

You're right. That last guy is too old looking and too dark-haired to be Davenport. ~Doc
