Default Ghost vs. John 44 wwyd?

John's shot --- John's pocket is at the top right --- score is 1-1 --- the 12 ball which is one diamond above my pocket, John can only see the left edge of it --- the 9 ball will not pass the 12 ball to go in my pocket --- there is only approx. 1/2 a pocket available for the 8 ball to go into my pocket.....got some shooting choices here, and some moving choices --- wwyd? ----->

Well, it was a tough situation where none of the options were very appealing...so Steve chose to eliminate my combo as some guys here also wanted to do...but being dead froze on the rail, Steve didn't think he could do much with his cueball and didn't want to lose control of it, so he just jacked up and hit the combo dead ahead with medium speed, stopping his cueball right there at contact...he knew he would leave me the bank on the 5, but he was counting on the 10 and 11 ending up on his side of the table where I wouldn't have a free bank on the 5 - and so then maybe I couldn't shoot it...it almost worked out that way for him, but not quite - it ended up like this ----->

Maybe two rail the 15 towards the balls on our side, focusing on leaving him on the top rail doubled up to his hole.

I see two shots; two rail the 13 ball to just below the side pocket on your side and stick the cueball right there or thin off the eight ball and leave the cueball on the end rail.

I am keeping it simple here and coming off the 8 and dropping to the bottom rail.

I looked at this, but was thinking I’d try to bank the 8 towards my balls to maybe open them up more. Problem is staying under the 12 and not spinning CB around it to the outside...but I couldn’t come up with a real move I liked, just “nothing” shots...

It’s early in the game and there are no good offensive choices. I think it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying do too much here and end up getting in trouble.
