I have to bank the 5 if the 15 is not make-able from the rail ,other wise I would just take 15 out and freeze under other ball on low rail

jeffs a dog here with the layout. and the 2,5, and 7 are all viable one rail banks that get him 3 balls or more. something to consider before going the ticky safe route.

I donít remember what I did, but Iím with beatle, Iím in a fix with this layout...
I donít believe I would bunt...

Iíd probably gamble here and bank the 5 at pocket speed and try to billiard the 13 into the side pocket... if successful, Iíve got the 2 ball, then the 1 ball and possibly another ball after the 1... if I miss the 5 but make the 13, Iíve taken two balls away from him and left him with a cut that does not carry automatic shape on another ball...

All the banking lanes for tom are blocked.
I am kicking and sticking hard off the long rail into the 15 hitting 6 o'clock on the cue ball... maybe 5 o'clock depending on the angle.
As long as you are comfortable sticking the cue ball, I dont see any downside.

jeff you definitely didnt bunt....
you realized it would be good to move both balls by his pocket and maybe make one...so.....
you decided to double kiss the 15 into the stripe next to it and got REAL close to making it .........
my lines may be alittle off but heres the shot and the result
it looks to me from the result the 15 went rail first into the 9
how good did he hit it folks?..

Larry,

I’d like to take credit for that shot, but Im just not that good... I was probably trying to move the 15 up into the 13 ball and reposition them both up table... I believe I was trying to avoid the kiss and billiard the 12 ball over towards my pocket.. I got really lucky on poor Tom on that shot...

some times shots turn out well and we look like a genius and some times sellout and look like a fool.

seems to me the best two ways to go is if you are not good at banking and lack the confidence then do something like roll behind his ball and try to play out the game with your opponent having a large advantage with the layout. kicking the nine over towards your hole will leave a bank more times than not unless you send cueball up table but thats too risky.

or try to shoot your way out and get the game where you become the large favorite.

as your disadvantage gets greater the more often you must shoot shots that can cost you the game if you miss.

banking well overcomes many tight spots.
