One Pocket is back In KC

In case anyone missed the news, Shooters in Olathe, KS is back in the hands of Dan and Jon and is being run great again. The second midwest 9-ball tour was held there this weekend with a one pocket tournament thursday and friday. On top of that was some rather strong one pocket after hours action all weekend long. Its great to watch great players squaring off again at the great pool hall.

Who were the top finishers?

One Pocket finishes:

Brian Jones-1st
Josh Johnson-2nd
Mark Chernin-3rd
Jesse Bowman-4th

Was a tough draw for the field. 28 Players showed up and all of the favorites seemed to find themselves in the bottom half of the bracket and did their best to beat up on one another. Jimmy Wetch played some great one pocket over the weekend, but came up short to a couple of the run and gun kids.

Afterhours action saw a big set between Jimmy Wetch and Jesse Bowman and alot of $50 and $100 a game action between the others. Gary Seville and Jim Weast were both taking about any comers if they felt the game was close. Alot of talk of another big set between Brian Jones and Jesse Bowman after Brian won one in November up here, but not much seemed to pan out.

As a side note, Brian Jones also won the 9-Ball Bar Table portion over the weekend. Beating some of the best bar table players in the midwest right now. Was a great weekend for action and the tournament was a blast.

Just a little bit more about the match between Jimmy Wetch and Jessie Bowman. they play 6 ahead for 3 thousand - took 6 or 7 hours with Jimmy winning. Talked about playing more , but nothing happened.

Don't look for their match-ups to end. Spent some time talking to Jesse sunday afternoon and he wants to do it again with a bigger stake being his. Was a little unhappy when only 600 of the 2800 a side was his money. He wants a bigger chunk to fire and see where it goes. Looking for a rematch of Jesse and Brian Jones too.....after brian beat him out of 1000 when the tournament was here in november. Look for more.

Jesse Bowman, Josh Johnson, Jimmy Wetch, Brian Jones, John Hennesse, Nick Vita were all there. The rest of the schedule isn't out yet. Check out www.9balltour.com for the whole midwest 9 ball tour schedule. There will be some coming to St. Louis and Tulsa in the near future. Most of the weekends start with a 1-hole tournament and there is always plenty of action in the rooms. Evelyn runs a great show and the players are very mindful of her and how she runs it.
