Ok, here's one not related to pool in any way...

Who will get soaked the fastest? And why? It's pouring rain on all these guys...

A guy standing still...
A guy walking...
A guy running... Or
A guy riding a motorcycle at 60 MPH

C'mon all you slide rule technicians...:):):)

If the guy on the motorcycle is standing up in his seat and has no windshield, he would definitely be the one, because during the period of time it takes a raindrop to fall the distance between his top and his bottom elevation, he will occupy more space which contains raindrops than any of the others. Same theory for the runner compared to the others.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :heh

raindrop x speed = fastest soaked....:D:D

It depends on where youre at.
In Hawaii we call the rain liquid sunshine. Its a breeze and a walk in the park cause old man Sun will just dry you up quick.
But Chicago when that Hawk hits you and that rain comes in over the lake.
You can fuggadabout it.

going from point a to b. running gets you less wet as you get there faster and spend less time in the rain.

both parties in the same time frame will get equally wet. not taking into account wind and or vacuum cause by forward motion possibly affecting somewhat.

I don't know the answer; :confused: The question was posed at a party one night many years ago and I left without ever hearing the answer.... :sorry

I would guess they should all get soaking wet at about the same time... The standing guy from the top running down the front, back and sides once the head and shoulders get soaked from the pouring rain... The walking guy in much the same manner... The running guy also only faster on his front than his back.... and the motorcycle guy getting soaked on his frontal area first but less getting to his backside until his front side gets soaked....

This example is for rain falling vertically. For rain coming at an angle, you should tilt you body in the direction the rain is coming from (unless sideways in which case you are SOL)

The conclusion is that moving as fast as you can will get you the least wet. Don't slip.

the question was NOT who gets the wettest going to a place. it is who gets the wettest in a certain amount of time in the rain..

of course if you run to your car you get less wet as you arent in the rain for much time as if you walked.

...and then this one.....2 motorcycles start 20 miles apart and head towards each other at a steady rate of 10 MPH.At the same time a fly that travels at a steady 15 MPH starts from the front wheel of the SB bike and flies to the front wheel of the NB one,then turns around and flies to the front wheel of the SB one again,and continues in this manner until he is crushed between the 2 front wheels.Question:what total distance did the fly travel?

15 miles. third grade math. unless there is something about nb and sb bikes what ever they are that matters.
