Whitey & lll;

Well, funny thing happened today. Showed up early for our bitty 9-ball tourney
like I usually do. Did my regular warm-up routine that I mentioned way back
when, then started shooting a few racks of 15 ball rotation to get ready for the
more position sensitive game. When the opportunity to bank came up I would
attempt it. 60/40, miss/make. Practiced the drill lll alluded to at the beginning
of the week. Things were so-so at best.

Game time was fun, truly fun. I do not think it would be repeatable but I was
doing some outstanding Banks. I was very fortunate and extremely lucky.
Didn't win, got 2ed. but folks were watchin' .

I was 'seeing' the angles today, managed a few up & backs, several cross side/corners
and a few object ball on or next to side rail and was able to
cross it into side pocket by doing an edge to edge hit. Felt comfortable when
getting down on the shots, only micro adjustments with bridge hand when
down for shot only when alignment didn't 'feel' just right. Once down, a few
practice strokes final check on CB for where, then back and short pause,
swing and hit follow through. Watch CB contact OB and OB fall into pocket
and CB roll for position on next ball ... or not. Made some shots that really
looked like I just picked up a cue only 5 seconds ago. My attempt at
achieving balance in the universe

Will be doing 8-ball this coming Sat. Then more practice come Mon.

Any thoughts and constructive criticism gladly welcomed.

its great that you were able to let your subconcious mind do the work while playing
your practice is allowing your brain (its a wonderful thing) to learn what works and what doesnt
.if you dont try to "overide" the programming while playing you will do fine..
great progress hank...yahoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whitey & lll, Howdy;

Well, after thinking on this a bit more I'm of the opinion that it was a negative
type personality that was a 'guest' and being loud and obnoxious that sorta
triggered my intensity of thought and determination to have them "sit down &
shut the hell up." The type that thinks that more volume equates to a more
important place they hold in society

Anyway today is 8-ball, I'll still go through my normal warm-up stuff and throw
in some bank drills as well, the one that Larry mentioned (distance apart and
using English for throw), and maybe a line of OB's on the Left diamond line &
the CB shooting from the Right diamond line for 2:1 ...

Whitey, I spoke with the Quartermaster (treasurer), about funding some new
rails and a re-cover. First words outta his mouth were about the expense. My
reply was how much money do the tables generate? They only charge 25
cents / rack but over a length of time it can add up. He told me that they do
have a separate listing for each (we have 2), and he'd look into it. He's a
player and was muttering after Thurs. tourney about the condition of the
tables so thought it would be a good time to plant a seed or 2. Ideally, the
tables should be self-sufficient in that by the time they'll need another set of
rails and a re cover they should have generated that amount of income. He
liked my idea, said he'd bring it up at the monthly meeting which is this
morning.
