After shooting for a while like in an all day tourney for example, I notice my eyes aren't focusing quite as well and I seem to notice the lights more. I've tried shooting with a hat and it seems to help, but because I'm not used to wearing one, I end up fidgeting with it. Has anyone else noticed or experimented with this? I wonder if it's worth trying more...

I have a lot of friends that play with a hat exclusively to keep the lights out of their eyes of as much as possible.

I can't play with a hat, just doesn't feel right. I really wish I could since nothing annoys me more than getting down on a shot and seeing the table lights. My table at home has all the down lights in the ceiling and I wish it was like that every where. I also recently installed some LED lamps and they are great.

I do wear hats quite often but cannot play pool with it on at all. My stance when shooting has my chin very close to the cue and it obstructs my vision.

Yeah I constantly was adjusting it so I could see what I needed to see.

I always wear a ball cap and do not take it off when i shoot. I think that it actually helps me because i use the rounded bill pulled down a little tighter as a tunnel when i get down over the ball. I cant see anything beyond the pocket or outside to my left or right. I played outfield in softball for over 20 years and never wore a pair of sunglasses.
