We never played that a touched object ball was a foul either. But if on the ensuing shot the cueball came back and hit the ball that was touched, then that was a cueball foul.
A lot of room for arguments there also. Some played that if the cueball rolled through the spot where the ball you touched used to be, (if you moved it), then that was a foul. That's a little too picky for me.
Also, if the cueball hit a ball that you did not touch into one that you did, what happens there. Arguments all around.
It's good that one-pocket players are usually more experienced and very careful when shooting.
