No. Tournaments there have been attended by almost every top player, but not enough of them at any one time to make it worthy of inclusion for the rankings. (Also small money and open to everyone... with 50 players, 40-45 will be amateurs.)

If you want a ranking system based on players, then you include everyone. If you just want who you want, then remove amateurs and keep doing $500 or $2000 entry fee tournaments and your rankings will be easy.

With a variance of +1 or +2 people it will be the same line up each time.

Don't forget the Space City Open in Houson at Bogies in December.

You may be right. I'm assuming that there aren't any amateurs that can compete over the course of a whole year with the top 20 pros, but the main reason I was suggesting to eliminate tournaments that were mostly amateurs is that a pro who wins or places high in one like that doesn't deserve as many ranking points.

Rank up to 20 and there will be a lot more than +1 or +2 variation. I'd be interested to see how many of these -- whom I don't consider automatic for a top 10 -- made it into a top 20:

Nevel, Daulton, Strickland, Feijen, Appleton, Varner, J. Brown, Woodward, Parica, Richeson, Gray, Compton, Roberts, Owen, Deuel, Murphy, Shaw, Davis, Olinger, McMinn, Bowman, Biado, McGrath, Lunda, Runnels, Dechaine, Anderson, Tokoph... + some I'm undoubtedly not thinking of now and some young guns whom I don't even know.

Of course the biggest obstacle is the sponsorship, but if some big outfit would put up as little as $100,000 for the annual final Tour tournament -- entry free for qualifiers -- all the qualifying tournaments would be better attended and all the qualifying tournaments could be "Whatever* Tour" events. (Budweiser*? Pepsi*? Coke*? Exxon*? Chrysler*? Taco Bell*? etc.)

The payoff for the West Coast Challenge was small this year. Cal billiards was forced to move and during the location change, lots of time and money were lost. If you look at previous years, payouts were higher.

That's a good start for a top ten, however that's only winner money not total winnings.

Also would challenge matches count as bonus points at maybe 1/4 value or just left off the rankings?

Challenge matches wouldn't be too fair, would they? You have to get invited to play.

Only top players get invited. But your right it's not fair. That's why I suggested reduced points
