I also prefer them on opponent's side. For one thing, accidentally making one of the balls in that corner is a far worse problem for him than for me. Also easier to defend against his straightbacks from far down table by just rolling on the pile.

But, the most important thing to remember is, WTF do I know?

Does not the 13 bank straight-back if it just misses the 6 on the way up? Can't tell for sure. But if it does, that's the shot. The 13 just has to pass the 6 on the way back to be a good shot.

Opponent's side, for sure. Now and then a neat little two-railer out of his corner might be available. Also, if you want a ball on the spot, that is the corner to make it in.

your post started a few comments on "the wedge"
with 4 balls on the table as shown there is no wedge...jmho
so what if all your balls are tied up..? you need one
he will eventually send something towards the scoring zone
letting you play ball by ball
isnt that what you want when you need one??
having the 13 on his side
once he loosens up another ball now you have 2 balls in play when they all could be tied up

Good point. No wonder I lose so much, I forgot the score. Which pocket is mine again?

I still like putting the 13 on the left though just because I like the action of the cue ball better going that way so i'm going to stray from my own half baked philosophy for this shot. After I freeze them on the two ball things are gonna get tied up anyway.

I would do something pretty conservative here with the 13 myself and just sort of pass.

You know a very interesting thing to think about when a ball is roughly where that 13 is though, if Brandon makes a ball there could be two balls that go dead into his hole and nothing really into Corey's. I'm not saying that's the shot here but that comes up when there's a ball just above the spot favoring one side like that and pocketing a ball can perhaps sway the advantage to you.

Thanks. I bet that is not something that is considered enough!

Brandon ended up shooting the 13 straight uptable and corner hooked Corey in the side...momentarily anyway before scratching.

Should'a banked the 6. Terrible time to make a dumb play. Completely unnecessary.
