Here's a situation from the 1998 World One Pocket Championship. Jack Cooney has just jawed up his game ball and it's Joyners shot. He has pocket 'A' and needs 8 balls.

Hint: When Joyner's inning ends, there are no balls on the table. But he ends up losing the game. What did Joyner do?

This layout taken from a television screen but is very representative of the layout and situation.

P.S. SJD, didn't you tell me that you were there for that tournament? I'm still waiting for Accustats to convert the tapes to DVD so I can see your match.

I think he banks in the five- plays shape for the 8, 11, and 1. Then runs everything and follows in the 14 to give him two on the spot. (maybe?)

Dudley,

Close but no cigar. On the right track though.

CD, I have this match on DVD. Joyner puts down his cue and takes a break, then comes back and puts on quite a show.

I also have the DVD with the SJD-Joyner match that you mentioned. Check into it.

vapros,

I've not only checked into it, I've ordered it. It has not been transferred to DVD by Accustats yet. Although I'm sure there are bootleg copies of it available by people who have transferred it to DVD from a VHS tape. I will wait until Pat Fleming is done and ships it to me.

On that topic, I called Accustats yesterday and asked them to transfer all the 1P tapes to DVD, I dont know how much unfluence I will have, but man who has a VHS recorder and uses it anymore. Pat has a great catalog of videos and its a shame to see them stuck on tape, having DVD is nice to replay a shot several times.

I absolutley will not buy a booth leg copy of any Accustat video, or take it for free(if someone offered) Pat has earned his $$ and in principal its not right to steal from him.

I'm thinking he would have to bank the five. What he shoots next would depend on what position he got off the bank. I wonder if he drew into the nine, to get it eventually out on the spot, where it would go to his pocket a whole lot better than it does here.

How is Cliff doing these days, btw? He seemed very uncomfortable shooting at Derby City.

Rod,

If you click the 1/11 icon just to the left of the bottom right pocket, he had 11 screens to watch... I think one of the is blank though.. I think #9, for me anyways.

I should have a nice tutorial up for everyone this weekend.... it will be a video type of tutorial. I'm going to do a basic one first just to get everyone going and then a more advanced one later.

Thanks, but what jack did isn't one of the scenes.
PS; Thanks in advance for the tutorial.

CaliRed,

The 9th page is not blank. It shows the cueball and 14 ball in the pocket. I made the 11th page because I forgot to mention that Cooney now had BIH. Some people need to be told that or they get confused.

Rod,

You are killing me. But here it is anyway. But just do not ask what he shot before the 2 ball.

The final cueball resting place here is approximate. I know of no way to go back and insert previous shots into a WEI layout. It seems like some imbecile suggested last night that that would be a good idea. I wish I knew who it was.

Dennis, I don't care what he shot before, only what he did with CB in hand and 3 balls on the spot, after Cliff followed in the 14 ball.

I'm actually getting bored of my cat (I saw a cartoon squirell with big boobs and I was going to put that on for you as a tribute to your five day disappearance but I'm still deciding which way to go it's between that and this scary cartoon shark eying up some fish:D ) How bout you pick.

And around here I'm a living legend---maybe it's because of my mean one pocket game or maybe it's because of my good looks;) Who knows

Bank the 5, pocket the nine on the same shot, run out and follow the 14 in.

Rod,

Here is a good representation of the endgame. With only one end-table camera angle it's difficult to be precise. But Cliff made a big mistake. Needless to say, but I'll do it anyway, it's Jack Cooney's shot with ball-in-hand behind the line.
