Anybody care to share any thoughts or reflections on Earl Shriver or Earl Heisler?
Earl Shriver, who's name comes up whenever I have talked to older players, took a lot of young sharp shooters under his wing over the years, and taught them the finer points of One Pocket (and hustling in general). That earned him the nickname 'Fagan'. He was definitely one of the earlier generation (he died in the 70's I believe), that was responsible for spreading the game of One Pocket, and sharing the knowledge of One Pocketall over the country, all those years he was active.

Of course, he was motivated by what he earned steering these young guys around (much like Titanic Thompson apparently enjoyed doing).

Earl Heisler, I just missed interviewing :(
Most of what I know about him comes for Tom Shaw's legends of the road article, and other players mentioning stops into his neck of the woods.
