Pagulayan 14.1 break used in finals of 2016 1pkt US Open???

I used the search feature and did not notice any discussion of this here on the forums before.

Check out Alex's break against Corey in the finals at approx 1:20:00. He used a similar break as deployed in 14.1. Strange, I've never seen a pro try that break before, and I was amazed that Alex tried it during the finals, or ever for that matter...:confused:

What do you guys think he was trying to accomplish? The score was 2-2 at that time. Didn't work out for him too well either...

Not sure, but it looked like they were having trouble breaking to lock up their opponent. W/the new cloth conditions it looked like they couldn't get the cue ball where they wanted so maybe Alex knew that he could get balls to his side and protect them by doubling Corey up. But I like the way Alex hit the 2nd ball from the bottom to get more movement to his side.

Just my guess.

I watched that match a week or so ago and did not even notice it at the time...LOL

I guess it could be an effective break if you freeze them on head rail?
