Casino Del Sol, Tucson - Member's Tournament?

If I'm out of place by bringing this up, please forgive me but, would member's be open to holding a Member's Tournament at the Casino Del Sol in Tucson which would be doubled up with a USBA 3-Cushion Amateur Championship event?

I have merely planted a seed with the President of the USBA, Mazin Shooni who loves the idea and I'm pretty sure that, Paul Feltman Jr., CFO of the casino/resort and an avid one pocket and 3-cushion player would love to take it on.

Maybe I'm off the mark but, if it's something that interests you members, let me know and I'll help to explore the logistics a little further. Obviously getting added monies and tables in the venue would be possible deal-breakers or makers.

By the way Friends, I'm going to begin uploading the event matches to YouTube in the order they occurred but, the Hot Seat to the Finals Matches will go immediately to my premium channel to a new category I'm calling 'Take Me To The Finals'. You'll be able to watch those final matches commercial free, before they get to YouTube. Look out for them this weekend.

I have no problem with that. In fact I wish I lived closer so I attend both events. I’m loving all the 3C matches you have filmed

I would not mind going to Tucson but I oppose being tied to any other tournament event. OP.org should have their own tournaments without being branded with other events. Maybe a regional tournament where you get to make up your own rules. I’ve never been to Tucson.

Cool. I was at Mazin's pool room last night playing 3C. It was fun. He seems like a super cool dude.

I was in Boston about a year ago and went to Mazin’s room. They has a 3C tournament going on and it was beautiful to watch

I'd be interested and have no problem playing alongside another event. In fact I'd like to watch some high level Three Cushions.

I support the organization of OP.org, no one else.
You are mistating what I said. I have always said that OP.Org members tournaments should stand alone.
If there is a three cushion web site, I suggest you support them. I used to play at a place that had six three cushion tables, top of the line heated. They stayed on their side of the room, the true players of pool stayed on theirs. I’m not about to play one pocket on a table with NO pockets and with just three balls, one of them, a cue ball.
Ours is a private tournament. A members tournament.
I recommend that Steve contact the Casino and see if they are interested in hosting a memebers tournament. But since we would not be playing in a pool room to help promote OP.Org or the pool room, what’s the purpose? Just to have another tournament that will then take away from our yearly tournament?
We are still having problems filling a 32 members tournament, will diluting the number of tournaments we have make that any better?

US Open, flights, hotel, food, $2500
Members tournament, $2500
DCC-$4000
Seniors tournament-$2500
My expenses may be higher than others because I have to fly first class and I don’t stay in flea bag hotels.
Expenses don’t include gambling, auctions. Add $3-10000, because of my losing streak.
I can afford it but how many can?
My biggest cost is too my health. Sleeping on non therapeutic beds. Flying more than two hours cripples me. Can’t sleep on the road. Bad food habits.
In all due respect Jay, if you remember when the DCC tried to expand. It didn’t work out so well.
I love our members tournaments, but beyond tournaments, my concern is for the continuation of OP.Org as an entity.

I did very well in English, high school and college. I especially liked writing, film classes.

Thanks for thinking of onepocket.org and future venues for our members' only tourney. I take it as a sign that you had a blast and would like to stay involved - we like that. I know that last year's 3C Amateur event was coupled w/an APA? event and worked ok so it's a nice thought. Thanks.

There are a couple of issues that I see off the top of my head that is of concern:

1) we need 16 9' tables that play similar if possible. You saw how late the tourney ran even when 16 tables were available. Since the casino would have to bring the tables in would they want that kind of expense? We would like tables for action as well.

2) I thought we agreed to have the members' tourney the same time each year; end of May/beginning of June each year (unless I read that wrong); so people can plan their vacation to attend. Isn't the 3C amateur event in January? If so that may cause a problem.

I tend to agree w/KY and others that posted that part of the fun of this particular "family" tournament is that it is for our active members, which lends itself nicely to move from region to region and support locall poolrooms. I also thought that this was the last year of the Amateur 3C touranment contract so not sure of its future.

Again Daniel, thanks for thinking out of the box, I'm just not sure this is the answer for next year for sure. But I do what I'm told so who knows????

I personally probably prefer the idea of a pool hall over a casino as I like getting in action with random people but after the great time I had at this tournament I will go any where you tell me to play in another

I'll be moving to the Tuscon area in a few weeks and would love to participate since it is probably impossible for me to travel to a out of state location and this could be my only chance to play.
