There's Highpockets in Memphis that is a slam-dunk natural. Owned by Tracy Whitney, a BIG supporter of the game.

Also Buffalo's new room in New Orleans.

St. Louis?

Denver?

Mark Griffin's new place in Vegas?

I'll go 600 +/- miles from SW Missouri.

This was one of our possibilities for the 1st one too...he is a super nice guy (met him at Lacy's) and if we don't have it there this year, we for sure need to consider it for next year.

I haven't heard about Mark's new place in vegas besides his update here on the forums. Is it finished?

EDIT: Never mind, I was thinking about Bill Rowsey at South Rec Center, not Tracy...sorry! But I am sure he is a nice fella too! :)

I can check with Shooter's or Jimmy Wetch to see if they would be willing to host it here in MN as both rooms are less than 30mins from MSP. I am willing to go wherever and have fun!!!

I think last year was a close call between Lacy's and Rowsey's place, so I think the latter should be high on the list for the next one. Having 16 9' tables, ideally all Diamond or all GC, would be a huge plus--that would knock a full day off the tournament and/or allow a field of 48. Personally, I don't mind if the first rounds are a mix of Diamonds and GCs as long as we settle on just one once the tourney is down to ~16 players.

Overall, in terms of location, I'll go anywhere if my work schedule allows.

Here is a list of rooms that may be a possible host location (again, no contact has been made, just starting a list, plz chime in with suggestions, or information on the rooms). Once we feel the list is complete, we'll create a survey where you can select multiple locations that you would likely attend.

Red Shoes - Chicago, IL
◾http://www.redshoesbilliards.com/
◾Not sure how many 9' tables they have, couldn't get the info from the web site...
◾34 minutes from Chicago O'Hare International Airport
◾owner: "Red Shoes" (1p.org member)

Lacy's Cue - Chalmette, LA
◾http://www.lacyscue.com/info
◾15 nine foot tournament tables, and a 10 foot championship table
◾29 minutes from Hilton New Orleans Airport

Buffalo's - New Orleans, LA
◾13 minutes from Hilton New Orleans Airport

Michael's Billiards - Cincinatti, OH
◾http://www.michaelsbilliards.com
◾Not sure how many Diamond 9' tables he has, will update when I get the info, there are quite a few bar boxes, though.
◾29 minutes from Cincinnati Airport
◾owner: Michael Medley

Gold Crown Billiards - Erie, PA
◾http://www.goldcrownbilliardseriepa.com/
◾Gold Crown Billiards is the coolest facility I've been to, and while I'm no road player, I've been around a bit. The pool hall area has 17 9' Gold Crown tables (3 tables in the upstairs level, 4 in the lowered section, and 8 on the main floor), 2 diamond bar boxes, and a 3C table. Andy's Pub has 4 bar tables as well. Then there is the upstairs bar, called the Bullfrog Bar, which also has 2 more diamond bar boxes. It's all one facility that is tied together pretty cool.
◾14 minutes from Erie International Airport
◾owner: Paul Schofield

Drexeline Billiard Club - Philly, PA
◾13 9' tables
◾16 minutes from Philly International Airport
◾owner: Bob Maidoff

Fusco's - Philly, PA
◾17 9' Gold Crowns, 1 3C Billiard table
◾16 minutes from Philly International Airport

Highpockets - Memphis, TN
◾http://www.highpocketsinmemphis.com/
◾12 – 4 1/2′ x 9′ Gold Crown tables
◾29 minutes from Hilton New Orleans Airport
◾owner: Tracy Whitney?

South Haven Rec Center - Memphis, TN
◾owner: Bill Rowsey (1p.org member)

Griff's - Las Vegas, NV
◾Not sure how many tables
◾owner: Mark Griffin

Drexeline billiards (Bob Maidoff) or Fuscos (Pete Fusco) are two possibilities for a Philly tourney. The manager of Fuscos is a member here so that would help if that time ever arose.

They have one pocket and bank tournaments at Red Shoes and the owner is a member here
Tracy is a good guy at high pockets and they have everything needed to hold a tourney there with plenty of tables and food. Me and Col Billie played a long session there a while back. There is also South Haven rec center in Memphis. Bill Rowsey is a member and expressed interest in holding a tournament at his place.

Count me in wherever it is please. I prefer a location that is served by a Southwest airport, but that's not a deal breaker, lol.

Have no idea if Michaels is even an option, I just threw it out there..I will be happy to ask if its something we decide to try...Chicago also sounds good to me since its only about a 6 hour drive. Or memphis? I am thinking this next one may be closer out west but who knows...

I'm open for Memphis too.

Other Logistics Questions

Other Logistics Questions

I discussed the possibility of this with Paul Schofield, and he said he would need to know 3 things. We will need to answers these 3 questions regardless of where we end up going, so here they are.

How many players?
I think we had 32 at Lacy's? I expect we will have a similar turnout, but we'll see...

What is the length of time for an average game of one pocket?
Does anyone have a more-than-educated guess on this?

How many hours do we want the tournament to last?
(Believe it, Paul's tourneys are scientific. He prides himself on how smoothly they run. Again, even if we chose another location, he would likely give me a bracket to use his format if we chose to do so. More on that later, though. We're not ready to talk about format yet)
Would we want this to be a 2 day event?
What was done at Lacy's? Round 1 Friday night, all day Saturday...Sunday too?
I would think a two day event would be sufficient. Maybe Round 1 Friday night, the rest on Saturday? Maybe semi finals and finals on sunday, if needed/desired. I would prefer to allow for travel on Sunday...

Funny one year at DCC someone came up to me and said I was up on a certain table in 9-ball. I said I was not signed up for 9-ball but they insisted that I was up. I was thinking wtf, did someone sign me up for 9-ball?? because I sure did not lol. So I looked at the chart and sure enough, there I was, so I went up to the table, and that is where I met another Steve Booth who plays pool, who is from Ohio. I am from NH :D:D

I don't know if Disco Dave is willing or interested to be the treasurer/record keeper for the next member only tournament, but he sure did a fantastic job for the last member's tournament. I believe what we learned last time is that planning to start Friday night is very helpful to letting the tournament finish at a reasonable hour on Sunday night. So I would say a Friday afternoon start. What we did last tournament is no forfeits Friday night. Maybe we can do that again for the players that cannot miss work Friday. As long as we limit to 32 players again.

I can collect the entry fees if Dave or someone else does not step forward.

My wife Lizz said that she would be willing to help out with running the tourney and we can certainly act as treasurer as well. I plan on taking charge of the shirts again if everyone is fine with that.
