Hot pokers in my eyes before a safety. That’s my motto. Shoot for your hole. Fly fly fly. To me if I have a flyer or a safety where I pull my cue ball down to the bottom rail is a no brainer. A safety is a wasted opportunity and way back when taught not to pass up an opportunity it transferred to one pocket.
The conundrum is when teaching someone how to play one pocket, puttting emphasis on safety play is the paramount.
If my brain could translate.:)

The way I would put this is one pocket is a very defensive game, until you actually learn how to play it, and then it becomes a race to who is shooting first and most (wo giving up the game).

If I remember correctly, the last time we played, you kept scolding me for playing too many safeties and not shooting enough!!!

On a side note, we should get together and play again!!!

And I was / am correct in regards to your shot selections.
Controlled aggression;)
I am one of the few who will help someone he is beating
